Folate - The Wonder Vitamin

Spinach

Wellness Tip: Folate's been called “the wonder vitamin" with good reason. Folate is a B vitamin and folic acid is its synthetic form. It protects both women and men by reducing homocysteine, an amino acid linked to heart attack risk. Folate may guard against colon and cervical cancers, and it is used to treat depression. Women of childbearing age should take 400 micrograms of folic acid daily (but no more than 1000 mcg) to lower the risk of certain birth defects.
