Vitiligo And It's Types

Vitiligo or Leucoderma is the pigmentation disorder in the skin of the human being. Vitiligo is the medical term use for the white patches that appear because of the skin disorder. When the melanocytes a skin cell that produces melanin responsible to make the human body color is destroyed the white patches appear on different parts of the skin. The melanocytes and mucous membranes the tissue that is inside the mouth, nose and genital and the retina of the eyes are destroyed in vitiligo disease.

There are many types or pattern in which vitiligo appears. The 3 main general pattern in which vitiligo discover are:

1. Segmental Pattern
2. Focal Pattern
3. Generalized Pattern

In segmental pattern the white patches cause by vitiligo discover only on one side of the human body. So it is notice in some cases that some people develop only on one side of the body.

In focal pattern the white patches limited to one or only a few areas.

In Generalized pattern the vitiligo white patches appear on both sides of the body. It is the most common pattern seen in the people diagnosed with leucoderma. In this vitiligo if white patches appear on one side of the hand it very often appears on the other hand at the same time.
