Women Over 35: Choosing the Right Moisturizer

Are you using a moisturizer? It not only keeps skin smooth, but also prevents it from drying and cracking --- not to mention, it reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The challenge can be finding the right type of moisturizer for your age and skin type --- especially when it comes to your face. Not just any brand off the shelf will do once you reach a certain age. Women over 35 are in particular need of the right kind of moisturizer that will leave their skin refreshed and rejuvenated. Here are a few types or ingredients you may want to try in order to find what’s best for you to restore and revive your amazing facial skin.

Ultra-Calming or Ultra-Healing

Skin dries out easier, becomes less elastic, and starts to wrinkle the older we get. An ultra-calming or ultra-healing moisturizer is ideal in this situation because it penetrates deep layers and works to soothe the skin.

Feverfew

Feverfew is an herb used in traditional medicine. When used in a moisturizing lotion, it acts as a soothing agent with anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness and swelling. Patches of dry skin may be cured with a lotion or moisturizer containing feverfew, as well as fungal rashes and other skin problems.

Sun Block

The sun plays a significant role in the damage to women’s skin. It can leave the skin reddened and looking weak. Choose a moisturizer that comes with sun block. An SPF 15 or 30 works well for day to day wear, although you’ll want to add a face sunscreen if you’re going to be in the sun for any prolonged period of time.

Caffeine

Dark circles around your eyes are bound to occur, especially when you find yourself working hard and getting little sleep. Caffeine in a moisturizer works to combat this problem. It eliminates the appearance of darkness thanks to its shrinking effect on the capillaries. The skin-tightening effects can be pretty miraculous, actually, with less discoloration and more brightening.

Oil-Free

Moisturizers and lotions containing oil can often leave the skin feeling greasy. While some may work well, that greasy feeling is just not something many women want to experience. You can find an oil-free option that goes on smoothly and leaves the skin feeling smooth and silky, not oily and gross.

The right moisturizer will go a long way in your skin care regime. Put it under your favorite makeup, or wear it alone. A great routine is a good warm exfoliating wash in the morning, followed by your favorite moisturizer... it can help you feel fresh and beautiful every day.
