tooth decay doesn't have to hurt

Tooth decay has become much less of a problem in the United States in the past 50 years with many advances in dentistry, water fluoridation, etc. Why, then, with all the modern technology and advancements are people still getting cavities?

Tooth decay is a result of several factors: Bacteria+tooth-dental hygiene= tooth decay. Cavities result from people eating too much candy, sweets, carbohydrates and not brushing or flossing enough. Decay can come with a quick onset and can be painless. Regular x-rays and dental exams every 6 months can prevent decay from growing.
