Will Menopause Be A Thing Of The Past? Comments

lauraadkins the dosage was the OTC 3mg tab. The real magic in my humble opinion was revealed in the diaries that the women kept. They were required to take the melatonin around 8PM each evening as opposed to right before planned bed time. When I studied the Suprachiasmatic Nuclei (SCN) I learned that its disruption sped aging and age related disease and its correction can reverse it. There is much that is still unknown about the SCN but enough has been revealed to make me pay more attention to proper sleep cycles. Carl

I'm glad to see this research being done. This area of medicine is exciting because it acknowledges the interweaving of the processes in the body. This article highlighted that melatonin can significantly improve thyroid function and help restore normal menstrual cycling. The article also states that some of the menopausal women (1 to 2 years without cycles) had regained normal cycling. The most likely reason is that their ovaries weren't cycling for reasons other than complete ovarian failure - which is menopause. What this highlights is a need to define menopause by something other than no period for 12 months. Medically, menopause means the ovaries have completely failed. My husband and I have created a medical foundation to fund the research needed to delay ovarian failure thus delaying menopause. We are also looking for healthy, physiologic ovarian replacement regimens for women who have suffered complete ovarian failure at any age, not just women under 40 years old. With this type of research the future is brighter for all women.

I'm amazed by the power of melatonin as described here. I'd like to know the dosage used. I researched the topic and found a good article that provides further information at <url removed>. Could be a great help...
