Sorry Kids: Bush Vetoes Child Health Insurance Plan

Interesting Healthcare Issue From Digg.com:
President Bush, in a confrontation with Congress, on Wednesday vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have dramatically expanded children's health insurance. It was only the fourth veto of Bush's presidency, and one that some Republicans feared could carry steep risks for their party in next year's elections.

I recommend reading the debates about it this issue on Digg.com, very interesting: http://digg.com/politics/Sorry_Kids_Bush_Vetoes_Child_Health_Insurance_Plan. Some of the posts are a little inappropriate, but many of them have good points both for and against the bill as well.

I think it's highly relevant. Either way, we as tax payers will pay. I would prefer my tax dollars go towards preventive health care, rather than the alternative; parents waiting for necessary treatment of their children due to lack of means. That costs every body more and is just plain wrong. Don't call me socialistic, I just believe we all have a right to affordable health care- especially the dependant ones. It's unfortunate that wellness is in the political arena. It shouldn't be like that, but when one vote determines if a child with an illness gets treatment, well, it is what it is.

Thanks for your concern Janet. This post doesn't have anything to do with "Bush." It has to do with "Healthcare" which I consider to be directly related to health and wellness. I also consider the well being of the nation's children directly related a "higher degree of wellness." My purpose in posting this here is that I thought the wellness community would be interested -- and would benefit from -- knowing about this healthcare bill and public sentiments about it being vetoed. I think it's highly relevant. What does the rest of the community think?

I don't see this as the right forum for a re-hash of politics in the media. Wellness.com is designed for us as individuals to seek a personal lifestyle that promotes a higher degree of wellness in all areas of our lives. Bush is not running for President in 2008. How does reading about anger towards his actions in anyway promote our pursuit of wellness? Please consider using a different forum for posting such remarks...particularly since you admit you have no idea of which you speak and you use comments from people not in the Wellness community. Please contribute to wellness pursuits, not political commentary.
