A Yoga Retreat for the Soul

Fresh from the Shoshoni Retreat in Rollinsville, CO... I am slowly integrating myself back into reality! My fellow Manitou Yoga teachers, Joy and Lalena joined me for three days at the beautiful mountain Ashram for organic vegetarian food, temple, meditation, yoga, seva (selfless service), and an awesome chlorine free hot tub!:)
The atmosphere was enticing and magical. The eco -friendly cabins were warm and cozy, the yoga studios as well as the other instructors were welcoming, and the temple was filled gorgeous Hindu Deity statues and unbelievable energy!
The seva in particular was the experience I am most grateful for. We spent three hours a day doing deep cleaning in the different buildings. It was humbling as well as meditative.

The Yoga classes were refreshing! It was wonderful to learn new Yoga positions and sequences, and I eventually plan to integrate these in the classes I teach in Manitou Springs. Some of them will be particularly helpful for my students with back pain (including myself)! Also, the spiritual side of Yoga is much ignored in the west, so the total immersion in the full spectrum of yoga was a fantastic change! All in all, I feel like a new person with a new perspective. It was what I needed, when I needed it!

My Yoga practice began at age 15, when I was overweight and already suffering from severe back pain. I was already vegetarian and studying Herbalism, so I knew Yoga was the logical next step. And as is the case for sooo many others, it gradually transformed my life!
