Do you sit all day at work? For many of us, sitting at our desks all day is unavoidable. Scientists are discovering, however, that 'chronic sitting' can be more dangerous for you than you might think. It can lower your metabolism, even lead to hypertension and diabetes. There are ways you can stay healthy even when you're stuck in a chair all day. Remember to drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated, even when the muscles remain in a sedentary state. Research has shown that these quick 'breaks' throughout the day to interrupt sitting can lower your blood sugar and your metabolism. So get up and stretch every so often to keep your muscles active and limber!
