The newest study on influenza vaccine and its effectiveness on children came out on October of 2008. This study was done for two continual seasons and involved over 5000 children between 6 and 59 months. This research was unable to show any significant effectiveness in preventing influenza in patients younger than 5 years old. The author of this study noted "the U.S. and several other countries have expanded their childhood influenza vaccination recommendations in response to evidence that influenza causes morbidity in children" this assumption has not been proven and is simply wrong. There is little research on influenza within children and effectiveness of vaccines. This 2008 study puts things in perspective when it comes to giving the influenza vaccine to your children. Build stronger immune systems, healthier diets, and a powerful nervous system in order to keep your children away from the flu. Vaccines are not the answer!
