Whiplash under diagnosed , and under treated!

28 years of practice experience has proven time and toime again, that whiplash type injuries (auto, falls, impact injury) is often mis diagnosed via absence of x-ray examination supported by a thorough physical examination and history of injury. Often medical non-weight bearing x-ray films are under read by the radiologist, ignoring joint positioning, normal alignment, and ligament injury due to subluxation patterns of the vertabra positions.

In chronic headache patients, it is very common to see old injury patterns on x-rays, causing the current cervico-genic (neck causation) headache complaints.

Lack of training by the medical system regarding ligament assessment via x-rays is rampant in E.R. rooms across America. There is significant scientific data supporting the value of assessing the patient injury via x-ray study. Sadly, many Chiropractors have been influenced by "managed care" Insurance companies (PPO, HMO, etc) to shy away from this valuable tool in properly evaluating a patients condition. The result is a proper treatment plan with measurable outcome assessment standards via x-ray and examination.
