How to Eat Healthy to Live Longer

1) Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet and you will significantly improve your chances of avoiding cancer and heart disease.

2) Olive oil and rice bran oil can be substituted for butter or lard. This is a good choice as diets high in animal fat are directly linked to many types of cancer and early death.

3) Substitute fresh fruit smoothies or vegetables with a healthy dip like hummus instead of unhealthy snacks. Processed foods such as salty, sugary, oily snacks have very little nutritional value and actually promote cancer, heart disease, obesity, hypertension and diabetes.

4) Eat more whole grains. They contain many nutrients, fiber and are a good source of niacin. High fiber foods help you lose weight without feeling hungry.

5) Eat more beans (all types). Beans are an excellent source of fiber and will reduce you risk for colon cancer.

6) Don't forget the non-dietary measures for a long life: not smoking, wearing your seatbelt, having a supportive faith and family, and keeping active physically and mentally.
