Spring is quickly approaching, and winter weather is fading away all around the country. As it gets nicer outdoors, what's one thing you can do to greatly increase your overall health and the health of your wallet? Simple; commute to work on your bicycle! I ride to work, but, my head is on a frikkin swivel--and with all that, I wont say I don't thank the Big Guy in the Sky for keepin me safe when I do--Everytime I go through an interersection, I am noyvous....I know lots of folks that have wound on up on the wrong end of a hood, through no fault of theirs

Also, why wouldn't the author use a pic of a rider with a ....helmut on???

Can't wait for the snow to melt to start riding again!

Good tips for what you need to get started. Aim for once a week to start and in no time you'll be riding to work every day.

Also, try to get involved in the local scene to help get dedicated bike lanes and paths built in your city. Many European cities have the infrastructure and biking is the way of life.

Question: factoring in the risk of daily biking around cars driven by people dangerously preoccupied with their text messaging, compared to the health and financial benefits of biking... I wonder if the benefits outweigh the risks. Or another way of looking at it, are you more likely to be hit by a car if you bike or die early of heart disease if you don't bike (aka: too inactive)?

I wish i could ride to work, I've always wanted to and growing up my dad would ride his bike to and from work every day for 20 years. Hopefully one day i will be able too!
