Human beings were not designed to sit for extended periods of time. Most people who work in a corporate setting suffer from poor posture and stiff and creaky joints. To correct poor posture and bring much needed lubrication to stiff joints, the corporate employee must practice a routine of joint mobility exercises. A perfect example of joint immobility is trying to turn one’s head to see the blind...

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry everyone, but I went into a shameful hiding after the Chargers lost and the weather here in Southern California turned quite sour. That’s what I get for blasting the Jets and talking up our beautiful San Diego weather in my last post. Anyway, I’m on to bigger and better things these days…office shenanigans with the fax machine. I know, it sounds kind of...

Life is good in San Diego; the weather is beautiful and the Chargers are in the playoffs. Sorry to you New York Jets fans out there, but this Sunday will not be enjoyable for you.I love the excitement throughout the city at this time of year when the local team is in contention in the playoffs. Along with the excitement come plenty of parties, all leading up to the grande finale that is the Super Bowl....

The holidays are here, a time for family, friends…and an abundance of high fat/high calorie foods. Many of these foods signify that the holidays are upon us and we often want to celebrate by enjoying the special foods and sweet treats that surround us. For some, certain holiday foods or desserts bring us right back to the comfortable place where we originally feasted on them. For others, it’s simply...

Just because you work in a corporate setting for 8-12 hours a day, doesn’t mean you have to lose the battle of the bulge.J Ideally, your schedule allows you to squeeze in at least 30 minutes a day of moderate intensity exercise like fast walking. (It doesn’t have to be 30 consecutive minutes; it can be broken up.) Even if your schedule doesn’t allow much time for exercise, it is in fact possible to...

This is really lame, but we actually have people in our office that hang out and “shoot the breeze” next to the water cooler at various times during the day. Unless you have experienced this in your office, you might be thinking that I just made that up. Trust me, it happens. Because I find this practice so hilarious, I make a point (every once in a while) to play pranks on this particular set of...

So it has been a little bit since my last post, but the holidays were such a crazy time. I hope you all can understand. I talked with my health coach today, my first call in a couple of weeks. We discussed some of my activity (or lack thereof) over the holidays, and happened upon the topic of holiday parties. Now, before the holiday season, my coach and I had discussed some strategies to use at the...

Today despite my best intentions, I experienced a non-wellness day. The day got the best of me and took me to eating establishments that I normally would not frequent. I found my self not snacking throughout the day to control my blood sugar like I normally do, and the water was non-existent. Wow. I surprised my self with how off the mark I was with my wellness efforts. To top it off, all the stress...

You will not believe what happened to me today. Just when I thought my job could not get any worse, it did. So there seems to have been a bit of a mishap in the restroom this afternoon. We don’t have separate restrooms for guys and gals, just a single restroom shared by all in our office suite. Someone was kind enough to clog the toilet and not do anything about it (I still maintain that it was one...

I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet. It’s Friday, and I’m sure none of you feel like doing anything today. I sure don’t. Plus, it was our office holiday potluck today at lunch. I think most of us around the office are currently suffering from a case of Stage 3 Food Coma (yeah, pretty serious situation). I actually just dozed off for a second while typing that last sentence. At any rate,...
