I would never recommend them to anyone. Justin is absolutely horrible and thinks he can treat the customers like garbage and get away with it. I always wondered why he has so much power and after reading the posts of him potentially owning the clinic it all makes sense. It makes we wonder what the rules are in NYS on having a non-licensed individual with very limited ability owning an animal medical clinic. I brought my dog there for blood work and an exam with the intention of making a future appointment for dental work. The blood results came back irregular and I informed the clinic I would bring my dog to his regular vet for further followup. Well that did not stop Justin from fraudulently charging my credit card for the dental work which was never provided. I called the clinic and left a message asking Justin to call me back to discuss the fraudulent charge. Justin cowardly did not call me back but emailed me that a refund would only be provided if I brought my dog back for a $400 sonogram. I explained again that I will bring my dog to my regular vet and Justin continues to refuse a refund for work NEVER provided. I have tried to contact the treating vet at this clinic however she has not returned my calls. This is not an animal clinic but a business set up to shake down its clients without any regard to the law. I will never recommend this place to anyone and will be relentless on getting my full refund. My hard earned money will not be stolen.

As someone else stated, the person who runs the clinic ,may in fact be the owner, yet irregardless the person who runs the clinic as far as business matters Justin,IS an ignorant, and absolutely INCONSIDERATE JERK.....AND AS AFR AS JUST THE LAST WEEK,THEY NOT ONLY DID NOT HAVE A VETERINARIAN ON STAFF,HIGHLY SUGGESTIVE THAT THE OWNER IS NOT A VETERINARIAN ,AND YET THEY DID NOT EVEN HAVE AN XRAY MACHINE,EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT WAS FROM THE STORM LONG AGO,THAT WAS WHY THEY HAD NONE...YOU CANT WORK UP CASES APPROPRIATELY..IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIOLOGY PRESENT....THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PLACES TO GO THAT ARE MORE CREDIBLE ..PROVEABLY!

When my cat got sick and stopped eating I was looking for a good veterinarian !!! so i asked around for a good clinic in Astoria and heard really good things about 36 St animal clinic and when I checked online they had nothing but an excellent reviews. They are a small clinic . Very friendly staff and the doctor is very professional he explains everything and really takes his time examining my cat. My cat was diagnosed with a kideny failure I couldn't afford going to a specialist but the doctor gave me the option to do supportive treatment and showed me how to give fluids at home, my cat recovered slowly but feels a lot better now . He doesn't like his special diet too much but he will eat it eventually. I know it is just a matter of time till it gets worse but at least I am doing what I can to make him comfortable. Justin was very nice too he helped me give fluids to my cat few times during the weekend when the doctor wasn't there for no charge. They are reasonably priced and very helpful .will definitely recommend them to anyone.

I would love to recommend the 36th St Animal Clinic as a place to bring your pet, but one of their employees, Justin, ruins their entire business. The story is below, but basically, he does not know how to deal with customers that just lost their pet. Screaming at me while I’m standing there crying, all because I was upset they didn’t catch my dog’s disease.

My dog was weak one day, so I brought her in and the vet found she had sprained one of her ankles, he wrapped it up, and prescribed some pain killers and anti-inflammatory medicine, and recommended some doggie toothpaste to go. A few days later, I had to bring her to an Emergency Animal Services center. She was weak, vomiting blood, and wasn’t eating. They said she had an auto immune disease and would likely die. After a few more tests, it showed she had Lyme disease also. A “perfect storm,” as they said. I was devastated. When I called to cancel her follow-up appointment with 36 St, the girl on the phone was very cold, and I was crying, telling them I couldn’t reschedule the appointment since she would likely die and they failed to realize how sick she was. I said some choice words while on the phone. Just bad words while I was in a state of not thinking clearly. I even called the next day and spoke with a guy, Justin (who is the Vet Tech there) to apologize and let them know that she indeed had passed away.

A few days later, I went to return the toothpaste. I had no intention of causing any trouble. I had already apologized for my previous telephone breakdown. When I walked in, the girls behind the counter gave me a very hard time about returning this toothpaste. I started crying a bit since they were making it more difficult then it had to be, and told them so.

All of a sudden, Justin the Vet Tech came around the counter and started YELLING. Red in the face, yelling at me.
“It’s not our fault Lexi died,” “We diagnosed her "AS IS." "AS IS," he's screaming! He continued to say that they had given her an x-ray, that I had brought her in for a limp and they treated her for a limp. He completely omitted the part where I brought her in because she was weak and couldn't walk! He continued YELLING at me as I'm standing there crying. He’s saying that if I brought her in for diarrhea and vomiting, they would have checked for Lyme. I’m screaming back at him that, "The first sign of Lyme is weakness in the joints and difficulty walking." (NOT vomiting or diarrhea.)

There is absolutely no way this Justin has taken any kind of classes to deal with grieving people, or even how to deal with people. All he cared about was the legal issue I could have possibly brought upon them. I ended up just leaving as I was bawling. I couldn’t handle it anymore.

A few weeks went by, and I went to a few places to return things/collect my keys from dog walking services. I’ve spoken to all of them about the situation. I heard twice – TWICE – that this Justin kid has “some big social problems.” That shocked me, not the fact that he does – it’s very obvious – but that this Animal Clinic knows about his problems and still allows him to interact with customers. The Clinic itself is fine (normal following up/clean facility/etc), but Justin should be fired for treating customers the way he did. Because of him, I would not recommend the entire business to ANYONE with a beloved pet.

This clinic is awesome and I would recommend it to ANYONE who has pets. My cat was in kidney failure and I was out of town on business. My husband found 36th Street Animal Clinic and took the cat there. The staff and vet were amazing. One of the vet techs even stayed overnight at the office for 2 nights to make sure my cat got enough fluids and was able to recover. I was given a few extra weeks with my cat because of them -- they were so compassionate and amazing. Unfortunately today we had to put my cat to sleep. But I knew, because of the excellent care he got here, that we had done everything we could to give my cat a fighting chance. It was just his time. However, if I get another animal, they will certainly be patients of 36th Street Animal Clinic.
