I wish I had read the yelp review before agreeing to be seen by JV who I had met at a fair. He never mentioned what would take place during our initial visit and it's my fault for not asking. Most Chiropractors are very clear in how long the apt will take, what procedure will take place and what the cost will be. Not once during the appt. scheduling, remainder appt call or at the beginning of the appt before we got started did he mention that we he will charge me $40 to do an initial consultation which included asking me questions and assessing my range of motion then showing me a chart of the spine in a speech that he obviously has repeated one too many times b/c he sped through it so fast like he irritated to have to go over it again.
Usually the initial consultation is free and if they do charge a fee they give you an adjustment but that was not the case. I was told the next day when I called to make an appt for the following week did he say that he forgot to charge me $40. This was a huge red flag for me b/c he had many opportunities to review what his fee policy is. After thinking about this shading behavior I called to cancel my future appt. at which point he yelled at me over the phone telling me that I was wasting his time with this and to mail him a check. Had he done something to earn that fee or at least informed me in advance of what the first appt , would entail then sure I would have gladly paid but to tell me over the phone the next day is poor business practice.
On a positive note I was happy to receive in the mail my MRI and XRAY discs that I left with him to review. I had planned to pick them up at my next appt but since I decided never to return I figured I would never see them again.
So, note to all, always clarify appt policy and procedures BEFORE making an appt with any chiropractor that way you know exactly what to expect and you wont be wasting anyone's time during that first meeting.
