I have had an excellent experience here at Kindred Fort Worth Southwest's Pulmonary Rehab program. I used to be very active at the YMCA until I fell and broke a vertebrae and I was also afflicted with pneumonia. I then began to get pneumonia quite often. I started to become less active and it got to the point where I couldn't walk across the room without getting short of breath. My doctor became very concerned and sent me to pulmonologist Dr. Razack. He performed some tests on me and I was then diagnosed with emphysema. Dr. Razack referred me to this pulmonary rehab program and I began to attend about four months ago. I quickly began to realize my situation and learned that my condition could be managed. I gradually became able to do more things and I began use the information I learned here to challenge myself daily. Prior to attending, I was using my condition as an excuse for not being active. Then I learned that I can improve my condition with exercise. I began to increase my stamina and I was able to do more things before I became winded. I now feel much more confident and I'm able to cope with my situation much better than before. The pulmonary rehab team members here, Ken, Tania, Ron and Lanya, are wonderful and they truly treat you like a human being, not just patient. They really care that you do better and they are very knowledgeable. They were also very encouraging and they challenged me to do more than I ever thought I could. They are very optimistic and they would always boost my attitude. I am really going to miss all of them.

I've been attending pulmonary rehab at Kindred Ft. Worth Southwest for about 3 months now. Prior to that, I was unsure about my future and I had just about given up on doings things for myself. I began to hire people to assist with my groceries, walk my dog, and do my laundry and housekeeping. I even quit playing bridge with my friends. I then began to attend these sessions and I was surprised with the information that I was given regarding the level of improvement that I could reach by continuing to attend. I also met other patients in similar situations and I was pleased to hear them talk about how much they had improved while coming here. I almost immediately began to notice a difference and other people noticed this as well. I slowly began to do more things for myself and now I'm pretty much doing everything independently. My friends and my daughter are also very pleased with my progress. I recently went to a function with my daughter and granddaughter and my daughter stated "I have my mom back" and my granddaughter stated "And she has her personality back too!". The staff here has been wonderful and their personalities are a huge part of this program. They treat everyone individually and they are very motivational throughout the sessions. They are also very complementary toward all of the patients here. I am almost done with this program and I am going to miss everyone very much.

Not my first visit but my first review. The nursing team and the entire staff continues to surprise me with the care and service that they provide. Always outstanding to say the lease. I have been to kindred multiple times and each time is always different but the care is usually very consistent. Great outstanding staff such as Jasmine, Robin, Carla, Richard and Belinda from the nurse and CNA team. I know they work very hard at what they do and it's definitely not an easy task looking after people. So way round of applause to them and the entire staff who I did not mention.

You never really expect to give the housekeeping people some kudos however Theresa and Deeann Are two very dedicated people. They spend a lot of time ensuring the facility is clean and cleaning in areas that you would never suspect to be cleaned. Teresa is great as she does an excellent job and cleaning around my room. But the nicest thing is before she leaves she always ask do I need anything before going. Sometimes you get the housekeeping people who come in to do their job and clean and then just leave. Kudos to her!

My overall judgment of kindred is outstanding. I guess this is the reason why I keep coming back for my care.

I just spent 3 weeks in Kindred and as much as I wanted to be home I can say that my time there was enjoyable. From my first welcome with Crystal to Robert, Brady and Ava in HBO I always felt like Kindred was going out of their way to make my stay comfortable. My physical therapy team of Tracy, Carrie, Robert, Irene, Clair, Marci, Rebecca, and Teressa pushed me (literally sometimes in my wheelchair ) and help me to get back to my old self!
I had so many great nurses that I almost hated to leave. Mrs Debra, Karon, Mrs Butts are just a few I can remember and everyone of them were great and professional and help me so much. The techs like PJ and Abby were so great especially with helping me to get around in my wheelchair. (Im a big guy lol)
I can't forget Doreen and everyone in wound care who helped to get my wound healed where I was able to go home early than expected. I sure can't forget Hector who came by my room everyday during the week to make sure everything was going great and if I had any questions or concerns he answered right then and if he didn't know the answer he found out for me. My case worker Chipo was great as well making sure that my transition to Kindred and from Kindred to home was as smooth as possible.
Overall I don't have one complaint about Kindred. Even the food was pretty good. I would recommend Kindred for anyone looking for a hospital to help them to get back to normal. Thank you everyone at Kindred. I could never repay you for all you have done for me and my family! If I left anyone out I hope you know that it was not intentionally and to blame it on my mind and not my heart!

Out in Eastland Texas there's not too many hospitals that you can trust since were in the middle of nowhere. So our doctor, Dr Alstat at Brownwoon informed us about Kindred and suggested that I admit my wife there for her UTI infection. But it's been a very warm welcome from the entire nursing and doctors team. We're still at the hospital now and it's been about 2 1/2 weeks but everything has been going great as she has been recovering very well. I'm always here with her as they gave me and her are own room which is very nice and accommodating. We're looking for a speedy recovery and hoping to get back home real soon but the team has been so nice to us. I also informed my family that Kindred has been great and highly recommended. The only thing is that we are about 175 miles from our home and once we get back I hope that things go well and were able to find someone to look after her back in Eastland. Thank you to the entire team.

Thank you to Dr. Alan for looking after my husband. I really appreciate your kindness and all that you have done. Also a very big thank you to all the Kindred Southwest staff for all that you have done as well. The entire stay has been fantastic and my husband's recovery has been great. Even though he has to go to another hospital for additional care I just wanted to show all of you that we are very appreciative of what you have done. Olga Robledo

Corinne who is one of my nurses is very much on top of her game. She is a outstanding nurse who was there for me during my time at Kindred. I have to say that she has been fantastic in her care and overall hospitality. She definitely is a team player and I would recommend anybody to ask for her if you are planning to admit at Kindred. Another great nurse during the night would be Laura Langelley who I wanted to identify because she is a new nurse however is so much conscientious of her work and the patient she looks after. Very tenderhearted and compassionate as well.

Christie Chavez deserves a five star as well because she visits me every day and understands what I'm going through due to her own personal journey in life. I have been to Kindred now for a total of six times and people who work there have made me feel very much at home. With that in mind everybody considers me as family and not as a number. Jamica I just want to say that you are fantastic. You like to light up my room with your fabulous smile. It touches me in more ways than you would ever understand but I think that with this review I hope to share my experience with you.

Vanessa Bowles your fantastic. Always make me feel great even when I'm down. Thank you. Marcus you are another outstanding individual. I know that being a nurse tech is not the easiest job to have. I do have to say that is one of the most difficult jobs in the hospital but you make it look easy. You're so respectful to me and my care. Your positive attitude helps me in many ways. Raymond you were like my third son. You definitely know how to push me in a positive way. Not letting me be dependent on others but me myself motivating myself to do more then what I can possibly do.

Julia Julia Julia I love you as you're so sweet. Always with a great smile on your face. I couldn't you walking into the hospital and seeing you with a frown because of your cheerful all the time. Always so positive! Kudos to Sarah and Richard from the respiratory team. You're such a blessing as you make me breathe a lot better with your support and the BiPAP machine. Almost forgot about Allison, Jeff and Abby. All three of these individuals are spectacular! Jasmin, Ikea and Marcella, all great nurses tech. Hats off to the entire housekeeping team as you have kept my room very clean and tidy. Without you guys my room would probably be a mess. You all have done a great job. I think the management team should know that you keep this place spic and span. Job well done to all of you thank you. I've been here for such a long time as you can see based upon all the names that I just mentioned. What job well to everybody and do apologize if I forgot someones name.

A big round of applause for Elma who was my tech during the night shift. She has gone above and beyond In her duties as a tech. She was always there for me every time I push the call light. Never complaining nor whining about my request. She is such a doll. I know the role as a tech is probably one of the most hardest positions at hospital. Because I was one once upon a time. We're talking about in the late 60s when it was much harder than it is today. They also have a great respiratory team as well. When I asked to be put on a BiPAP at 10 they were there right on the dot.

Another big kudos goes to Jennifer who is the tech as well. They got her running around in circles on this floor doing a lot of things. A big praise to her because as you can see she is needed all throughout. The food has been excellent as well as I haven't had any problems with it. I'll tell you exactly how good it is. When I was at another hospital we always like to call their meet the brown mystery meat as we never really knew what we were getting. The only thing that I would really recommend and suggest is to improve on the call light issue. Sometimes it takes longer than expected. I know that everybody's busy but us patients are important to. The good thing is that if I had any problems they were able to resolve it in a timely matter.

I started attending Kindred pulmonary rehab back in November. My doctor and his PA informed me of this program and my sister in law had attended this program before so I was somewhat familiar with this type of rehab but I did not know everything that was involved. I was somewhat hesitant at first because I didn't really know what I would get out of it. I was thinking "What can they really do for me?" When I began the program I started working with weights and the treadmill. It was very impressive that they tailor the program to one's individual needs. There are patients at different levels and they work with any level patient, some with conditions worse than others. I was still a smoker at that time and the therapists provided positive support for me in quitting smoking throughout the entire time that I was attending. They really helped me understand the damage that smoking was doing to my lungs and I had tried to quit before but I was unsuccessful. Respiratory therapists Ken and Tanya really do make up this program at Kindred. They were very understanding and I made great progress at my own pace. They taught me how to become stronger so that I can do various daily activities without becoming short of breath. For example, I am a large person and it used to take a lot of effort for me to even just turn over in bed. Now I can do so with minimal effort and I don't have to exert myself when doing this. Even taking a shower or walking down the hallway would cause me to become out of breath. I am much stronger now and I can even mow my lawn with a push mower. I do want to say that there is no cure for COPD but rehab has made me much stronger and has helped me do more daily activities with very little effort. The breathing exercises in the program were also very helpful in strengthening my lungs. Ken and Tonya deserve a very big raise! I would like to recognize them for the hard work that they do every day. They see anywhere from 20 to 30 patients a week but they make you feel as if you're the only patient that day. I now know so much more about my condition than I ever thought I would. A big yahoo! to Ken and Tanya.

Before I began this pulmonary rehab program, I really didn't see that I would gain so much from it. I began attending the classes and initially I was only able to endure three minutes on the treadmill at 0.7 mph. I usually only use oxygen at night and at that time I needed the oxygen almost immediately after I began walking on the treadmill. This was really depressing for me. I continue to attend the program and I was able to progress greatly. I am now walking a total of 25 minutes continuously without the use of oxygen at 1.4 mph! I also noticed that after working out with weights and the arm exercise or during pulmonary rehab, I am now able to hold a heavy cast iron frying pan with one hand instead of using two hands. I can also carry a heavy bag of dog food from my car into my home without breathing so heavily. Before this, I would have to stop for rest intervals. I have purchased the treadmill for my home in order to continue my exercises there. One thing that this program instilled in me is the value of exercise as I was always a very active person prior to being afflicted with COPD. Therapists Tanya, Ken, Marty and Ron have been wonderful. They are very knowledgeable and they have always had a lot of patience in working with so many different types of patients in this program. They are all extremely caring. I have received a very valuable advice from every one of them and one thing I can say is that I wish this program was longer.
