This vet's groomer injured my dog's eye while grooming (accidents happen) and he was unable to open his eyes directly following and up until his eye treatment began to work - approx. 1 1/2 months later. I initially thought that his injuries were related to the groomer skinning him under both his eyes and his face was sore - knew it would take awhile to heal. But around day 9 following the grooming, his eye started to tear badly - now I began to wonder if the groomer had nicked his cornea since she had skinned him so badly around his eyes. Day 12 he could not open his right eye at all - at this point I also noticed open infected sores under both eyes in facial creases. My pet would not let me look at his eye. Morning of the 13th day I called Bayside Kennels to let them know what was going on and that I would be taking my dog to my vet. They talked me into coming and seeing Dr. Fisher and if it was related to grooming, there would be no charge. I found Dr. Fisher very arrogant and he diagnosed pink eye and stated that he couldn't say one way or another whether it was related to grooming. I insisted that it wasn't pink eye!!! He gave me eye drops (nothing for the facial infection) - the bill - and said "see ya".. During the next 7 days of eye treatment, my dog still never opened his eye and on day 7 I noticed his eye was totally clouded over. I immediately took him to my vet who diagnosed an ulcerated cornea (most corneal abrasions and ulceration come from injury). He stated that the medication Dr. Fisher had him on was wrong - it was a steroid that NEVER should be used in a corneal injury due to possible rupture of the cornea. It was the right medication for pink eye but he should have been on a NON-steroid eye drop - NOT a steroid. So more damaged was done to the eye and it took over a month for it to heal. He does now have scarring on the eye with probable vision impairment. This all started immediately after grooming. Dr. Fisher continued to blow me off so I took him to court. My case was based on the fact that Dr. Fisher NEVER stained the eye to look for an injury (unless it is obvoius - the only way to see this type of injury is by staining the eye) and placed him on the wrong medication which could have caused blindness in my pet's eye. AGAIN - he NEVER stained the eye - I was there the whole time - there was nothing on my bill referring to staining but in court Dr. Fisher bold faced LIED. He knew this was my case because he asked for a "Bill of Particulars" in which I stated he never stained the eye. He told the judge that he did stain it but didn't charge me for it since I was so angry and it was a sign of good faith on his part. MY MOUTH DROPPED OPEN. He handed the judge a typed piece of paper saying he stained the eye - probably typed it that morning before court. Even thought the judge said I may be right - he sided with Dr. Fisher because I didn't have enough evidence (and by the way the judge didn't look at any of my evidence except the bill I had from Pet Care Vets). So I will continue to tell my story - use Bayside Kennels/Grooming and Pet Care Vets at your own risk. And I wanted to give 0 stars on this review but the site wouldn't let me :(
