I am very surprised at a few of the reviews, and think at least some of them must be from the anonymous person stating they are making it their personal mission to discourage their patrons. I have to say, I love this place. We have had 4 cats and a dog who have been patients here over 11 years, and the Dr. has been so caring and gentle, and really tries to tell you things you may not have heard if you just go into the emergency care places. He does have shorter hours, but he is in a private practice on his own, and his staff is very kind, and has fit us in or taken us at the end of the day sometimes when they should be done. We did get a substitute vet once while he was on vacation, and it was an injury visit after my dog had been attacked by some other dogs while on a leash walking with us. The person who answered questions about the facility must have either gone somewhere else, or not told the truth. Everything in the facility is on one level, not even a step when you go in. I have never been postponed or cancelled, and I have had a very sick cat and a very sick dog when we had to go in often for a while. No smell, clean, homey place, no music but some magazines and an pet board for postings. He does do surgeries, but refers you if you want something a specialist would do, while telling you your chances and side effects. He let us know when tests for chemo were being suggested for my 9 year old cat after going in to a local emergency facility on a weekend and spending thousands, that my cat would likely not live 6 months after. He had us try an alternative that might work due to results from blood tests, an antibiotic, that took care of the issue at a much lower price, obviously. Our 16 year old Aussie finally passed away, and he and his staff were so kind over the 6 months that he was going downhill. Dr Francomacaro has let me know what he would do if it was his pet. He is not overpriced, as we use to pay more where we went before we moved here from the Midwest, and I know our neighbor paid more for general care and shots at her vet for her little dog. I really feel a lot of the bad reviews may be from the same person. We really will stay with him as long as I have pets and he is in practice.

If you love your pets, DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE !! I called Tuesday Oct. 21, and told the Dr.'s assistant my dog was sick with a nasty cough and wouldn't eat or drink. She told me the Dr. would call me back when he finished with his current patient. I received NO CALL BACK. On Wednesday Oct. 22, I told her it was getting worse, and again, she said he would call me back AGAIN. Instead of waiting I drove over there to a closed office. Using my cell phone from their parking lot, I called and was told they left early and would not be back until Friday. Again, I received NO CALL BACK. On Friday, Oct 24 I woke up to find that my best friend had died in his sleep I was heartbroken, I called to arrange a cremation and the same assistant told me the Dr. would be there in 10 minutes and she would have him call me.. After waiting an hour, I called and AGAIN was told they left early. When I screamed at the woman she put me on hold, then came back and said I would be called back in a few minutes. I was called by the assistant who said the Dr. was gone and nothing could be done that day and told me to put "IT" in a plastic bag and leave "IT" in a freezer until monday !! IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS, DON"T TAKE THEM HERE !!!!!!

I have always been very pleased with the Makefield Animal Hospital! I started with them over 7 years ago with my first puppy. Now we have a new puppy and take him there as well. They have always been friendly, know me and my dogs, and the best is -my dogs LOVE to go there. They thoroughly answer my questions. They do not rush me in my visits and, in my opinion, schedule wisely so they can give all the necessary attention to me and my dogs. I would highly recommend them!

Having read the other reviews I have to assume that the person who said they would make it their "personal mission" to dissuade others from this practice (after having gone there for 15 years??) wrote a number of these reviews.

Here are the points that are slanted or outright false:

Barriers to handicapped people everywhere? The door is on the same level as the floor of the office and there are no stairs anywhere. It is ideal for the handicapped.

Had to look for a parking spot for a long time? There is enough parking there for ten times as many people as could fit in the office.

Overpriced? Check around. Not hardly.

Not compassionate? I've taken numerous foster kittens there, my own kittens, had cats fixed there, and even had cats put to sleep there and they have never been anything but compassionate and caring, and always have a detailed report for me when I pick up a cat -- how he liked to play with them or what treats she liked the best.

Seemed like they had just started yesterday? Not with their adept handling of even fussy cats. My cats don't fuss at having their temperatures taken and act as if they don't even notice the needles.

I will give you that their hours are strange, but that's what you will get at a small practice with only one vet. He can't be there 24 hours a day. However, he is the one who will see your animal every time you go in. Many people like that kind of personalized service.

I hope that someone finds this information useful. It's a shame that people choose to be negative when they know they can stay anonymous.
