If you care about your loved one this is the last place to ever consider. What we heard and saw while our loved one was there was horrific this past June. So sub-standard...how it rates any star is beyond me!

Yes! They took a personal call right in front of me. I found it to be incredibly rude.

My dad was admitted at the age of 93 from the hospital after he broke his shoulder. He arrived on Memorial Day weekend and was not seen by a doctor until the following Tuesday after Memorial Day. During that time he became disoriented and his sugar was very high. That was because they were not feeding him a diabetic diet. I had to wait 5 days until I could speak to a nutritionist. Never spoke to a doctor until the very end who was not with Humana who at 4:00 in the afternoon told me that my father's kidneys were failing. I told my mom at 5:00 pm and at 6:00 pm my dad passed. The Humana doctor did nothing for my dad's health. While at Avante I saw three or four cock a roaches and the place was not clean, the sheets were old as was the blanket. They took my father's dignity by not allowing him to go to the bathroom on his own because they did not want to lift him and put pampers on him instead. Let's not forget the clothing that is continually missing. I was told by a staffer there that a pair of Levi's goes for $200 in the islands. Run Run Run.

Amin Sanaia, the CEO Of Avante Nursing Rehab Facility in Boca Raton is unprofessional and inconsiderate to a family members and elderly patients that are suffering to death in his facility. He doesn't care if a patient is not eating, not drinking water, not being cared for as they should be. Amin's email is asanaia@avantecenters.com I pray that something will happen to him and his family so that he will know what it means to suffer in this facility that he is running. I wish they had been more professional. the customer's always right Not only did they not welcome my questions, they just dismissed them as unimportant. I felt like they didn't really care about helping my family member. Their equipment appeared to be old and out of date. I wouldn't trust them to care for my loved one after I saw first hand how unsafe the Avante facility is!

My father was transferred to Avante as a Rehab facility following hip replacement surgery. When we arrived to visit him, he was incoherent (he had been lucid before this point) he was literally hanging out of the bed, unclothed and moaning. When I spoke to the head nurse she said, very rudely, that I needed to get a private nurse if we wanted someone to make sure he didn't fall out of the bed! We met with two administrative department heads and were so distraught that we had him transferred back to the hospital. My father had developed an infection, which the people at Avante did not attend to. A week after returning him to the hospital, he died. This place was truly atrocious and I personally think they were partially responsible for my father's death. They were heartless and treated my father (who was a doctor and two days before was chatting with everyone and telling jokes!) with no care, respect or dignity.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! DO NOT PUT ANYONE YOU LOVE IN THIS PLACE!!! If you have a loved one in here, do not leave them alone! I am calling Humana to transfer my father out of here!!! I pray he makes it through the night!!!

In general, the nurses are kind, the place appears to be clean enough and the food seems okay however; it's all downhill from there. Gary Krulewitz, the Administrator, will take your call, but your problem just falls on deaf ears! I made phone call after phone call, day after day, all day long, to resolve possible life-threatening issues, and nobody followed through. It's the blind leading the blind over there! Out of frustration, I finally faxed over a letter with detailed information on the care my father needed, and since nothing was done!!!
For a couple of days he was without medication and when they finally got medicine for him, they didn't take his blood pressure, improperly administered his meds and gave him the wrong amount of medication!!!

No doctor even saw him for 2 days while he lay there suffering needing to be sent to the hospital. When the doctor finally showed up, she didn't have the critical information in his chart to make a proper diagnosis so she couldn't get him the proper help. They sent him a psychiarist when what he needed was a urologist, internist, kidney doctor, hematologist and hospital care!!!

Could you imagine that the one thing they wanted to do for him was give him physical therapy, when the man just had a blood tranfusion and wasn't even seen by the doctor yet! (Bizarre!!!)

And when he needed a simple over the counter pain reliever pill, we had to move mountains just to get them to get it for him!

Believe me . . . I could go on and on. Hopefully this is enough to keep you from having a caseworker send your family member here! Welcome to the Florida system! What a rude awakening that anyone that is ill SHOULD NOT have HUMANA coverage. They are the worst.
