. After being diagnosed with rectal cancer my first priority was to choose a oncologist to discuss my future cancer treatments. Dr. Braich came highly recommended. The first appointment was scary for me because I didn't know what to expect. Dr. Braich and his staff made me feel very comfortable. He explained my pre operative and post operative treatments in detail including the medicines I would be given and there potential side effects. After my surgery Dr. Braich visited me in the hospital twice just to see how I was doing. He even called my hospital room on a Sunday evening while he was on vacation to read me my pathology report. That is going the extra mile.At My post operative treatments at BMC the staff greets me by name and are always friendly. If I have questions they have answers and if they don't they find them. During one of the toughest times in my life the BMC oncology team was a bright spot. Dr. Braich is the best doctor I have ever been to.

Never! I don't think I've ever been put on hold here for a long time

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was easy enough to find. They answered my questions and spent a lot of time with me. I didn't feel like they were trying to rush my appointment at all. I loved having Dr. Braich as my Oncologist...he was so knowledgeable and caring. He saved my life! I will always hold a special place in my heart for this fine physician!

When I first visited Dr. Braich I was literally dying (I was later diagnosed with severe CVID - i.e. no immune system) On my first visit this man walked into the examination room, introduced himself and said, "I am going to save your life." He did. He placed me on a course of monthly IVIG infusions, and began looking for causes and possibly associated cancers. After about a year of treatments, he again helped me greatly in another way. Knowing the reputation of HMOs and having recently been rated by the Veteran's Administration for service connected disabilities (I'm a Vietnam veteran), I decided to attempt to get into the VA health care system and be treated for my CVID by them, but I really hoped to find a VA doctor who could measure up to the standards of Dr. Braich. He took it upon himself to research that problem and soon recommended an excellent and highly respected hematologist/oncologist who is both a research professor at OHSU and a provider at the Portland VA Medical Center. He even called that doctor and made sure he would take my case. My new VA doctor agreed totally with Braich's diagnosis and treatment, and continued searching for causes and related diseases. Eventually he found something and has diagnosed me with a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. I am now receiving chemo-therapy and have a very good prognosis. Doc Braich did exactly what he said he would do on my first visit, then went above and beyond and helped me find another extremely competent specialist! They don't come any better than Dr. Braich.
