Dr. Vollmer took care of my son, so much better than his two previous psychiatrists. She re-diagnosed him, got him off his medication and gave him self-esteem and self-confidence. He is a success story beyond anyone's imagination. His grandparents, his teachers and his siblings are astonished at his success in his life. We give all our thanks to Dr. Vollmer for seeing his strengths and helping him build on them.

Shirah Vollmer should have her license revoked. She basically used me as a guinea pig, trying medication after medication on me, with no idea of what my ailment truly was. And the ease with which she prescribes highly addictive drugs to those who have no business taking such drugs is unbelievable. She not only misdiagnosed me, she also breached confidentiality numerous times, causing me great conflict and pain. She repeatedly prescribed highly addictive Adderall to a relative who is an addict and Ritalin to a close friend who had simply mentioned she was tired! She is self serving in every way, going as far as using specific confidential information in her poorly written blog, making fun of the patient in the most disdainful, cruel way. She did not care for my husband and worked to drive a wedge between us, disparaging him in sessions and making fun of his achievements, actually telling me I should leave him. We have been together almost 20 years and are very happily married. She inappropriately and freely made clear her beliefs about religion and other highly personal topics. And finally, she has refused to return several thousand dollars for unused sessions despite many requests for her to do so. She is not just inept. She is flat out dangerous.

Dr. Vollmer saw our child and completely missed the boat. We wanted our preschooler evaluated for severe anxiety. She basically wanted our kid in talk therapy without evaluating our child for any sensory or motor deficiencies-which at this age, could contribute to an anxioius demeanor.
Well, after about eight sessions we realized she wasn't up to snuff. We found another pediatric psychiatrist who performed a thorough assessment and had our child evaluated by an Occupational Therapist. We found out our child had a mild sensory integration disorder, that contributed to the anxiety. Once the sensory integration issue was cleared up through O.T. our child's "anxiety" diminished markedly. Had we stuck it out with Dr. Vollmer, our child would still be in "talk therapy" with her and the sensory integration issue would have never been addressed-something a child psychiatrist should have on his/her mind when dealing with a young child.

Dr. Vollmer is kind, smart, attentive and extremely perceptive. She is skilled with both medication and psychotherapy. She has helped me and my family beyond which words can describe. She has followed us through multiple crises and each time she "shows up" in the most professional and caring way imaginable. I don't know where I would be without her.

I was very glad that my appointment went the way it did. She was so much more knowledgeable than I ever expected her to be, and she gave me fantastic advice. She always made sure to return my phone call as soon as possible. She never left me waiting. I didn't have to wait in their waiting room at all. She was ready for me right when I got there. During my consultation, she was very helpful and attentive the entire time. I felt very cared for.

I appreciated that she was still concerned about my health even after I left the office. She followed up with me after my appointment and everything. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. The restrooms were very well-stocked at this provider's office. She was really great about taking their time with me, and she did not mind answering my questions. I've never felt like an annoyance to her no matter how many questions I have. I appreciated that she explained my treatment's risks and benefits. I felt a lot more informed.
Mostly, I want to say how much I appreciated her wisdom and her devotion to her work.
