The location, the office building, the office - deplorable. Great difficulty even entering the building. The location would have been of no import had it not been for the indescribably horrible and abusive manner and attitude of Dr. Vollmer. If you have someone you love, don't send them to her! She has no compassion, is abusive and is probably the worst doctor I have ever had the misfortune to take a family member to... She should be in intensive therapy. It is comical that she fashions herself an expert and blogs etc. Beware, unless you're into horror films, stay away. There have to be other patients who have had horrific experiences. She contributes to mental and emotional disorders.

I've been to two other therapists who were highly recommended, but I've never been to a therapist who is as smart, perceptive, brave and compassionate as Dr. Vollmer. She really knows what she is talking about and is not going to sugar coat things. But she is extremely caring and knowledgeable. I'm very happy to have found her!

Oh my gosh. This woman had her head up her butt 21 years ago when she treated our 7 year old daughter at ucla. She was so cold and hard to talk to and acted like all she cared about was prescribing meds. She treated our daughter for ADHD with Ritalin, which within 2 days caused severe motor tics. Dr. Vollmer then diagnosed her with Tourette Syndrome because of the tics. At that point we switched to another doctor. We always left her office thinking that this cold, detached woman certainly picked the wrong field to be in, especially dealing with children. I felt zero compassion and understanding. Turns out our daughter has Aspergers and the Ritalin made her ten times worse. So I don't think she is even good at prescribing meds..

Dr Volmer treated my child for anxiety. When we approached her about future treatment possibilities, she was cold and rude. When I attempted to discuss her reaction with her, she was defensive and accused me of "ambushing" her: very inciting words for a therapist. She was aggressive, and then dismissive: terminating treatment without any attempt at understanding. I believe Dr. Volmer has poor training working with the emotions and thoughts of others and places herself and her perspective before the well being of her patient. She may be good at dispensing medication, but do not trust this person with feelings.

Dr Vollmer was treating my child for medication. In the first sessions, she was very involved in talking to my son about his feelings. In the last sessions, she was distant, and somewhat hostile to myself and my husband. When asked to discuss without my child present, she said she was "ambushed" by me in a former session. Very hostile language for a doctor to throw at a client. When asked to explain, she merely repeated herself. Then, instead of talking through the matter, she fixated on one thing I said, the need for her to have a connection with our 9 year old child, as the basis to say our philosopies were incompatable and to suddenly stop treatment all together. As a dispenser of medications, perhaps Dr. Volmer is fine, however, as a therapist I believe Dr Vollmer needs to experience more personal growth and discovery before she can truly help other clients in their journey of self discovery and growth.
