My partner (now spouse) and I saw Jeff from approximately late 2004 through December 2007 for couple's therapy, after which we relocated to California. We're a gay male couple, and we were also one helluva handful to deal. When we were working with Jeff, me and my spouse never seemed to be on the same page and fought our way through many sessions, but Jeff gave us essential relationship and LIFE tools and taught us how to use them to foster safe, open, honest and effective communication. Jeff guided us to a place where we learned how to grow together, unlearning negative behaviors, and replacing them with healthy dynamics. We didn't arrive there easily, but we had many, many years of unhealthy habits to unlearn. When we do have our occasional failings (after almost 18 years together), but we've grown from being at one another's throats to being grateful for each other.

Jeff's style was fluid; he wasn't stuck in some sort of rigid protocol, yet he maintained the structure and boundaries that, in hindsight, were essential for each of us. He's very approachable, sensitive and empathetic, and yet thankfully wouldn't tolerate the games we played with each other at the time. Looking back, he gave us so much more than either of us could process at the time, but he planted the seed for us to hold things together and continue nurturing healthy patterns after moving out here. How he endured us without getting an ulcer I don't know, but I'm grateful we had the opportunity to work with him.

What was most amazing about Jeff is that he was able to expertly navigate the fine line required when a therapist invests in and genuinely cares about his clients' and their welfare, yet always maintains objectivity and remains a consummate professional. He believed in us when we didn't have faith, always guiding us back to a healthy path. He was always there with support; even when I left after a volatile session in real pain, I somehow knew there was hope.

Jeff Duke is an excellent clinician and a good man, easy to talk to and really trust; he's there, prepared, when you breakdown OR have a breakthrough while working with him. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
