Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I chose a career in psychology due to a relationship I had with one of my high school teachers. This teacher was helpful to me, and I thought, what better career is there than helping others? While there are many careers that involve helping others, I felt drawn to helping people with their personal problems. What I want my patients to know about me: In my work with clients, I emphasize the importance of an atmosphere of listening, accurate understanding, empathy, exploration, and mutual respect. From that foundation, I emphasize a collaborative relationship with clients in which I mostly utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach.
