Psychologist Laurie Berman is extremely unprofessional. I had come to her seeking help for my 7 year old daughter and need to start her therapy sessions immediately, she was well aware of this. I gave her my insurance information and she told me the soonest appointment she could give me was almost 3 weeks away. I went to the first appointment alone to give her all the information about my daughter and she then tells me she couldn't see her for almost another 3 weeks, since I had already went through the intake process with her I made the appointment. On the day of her appointment I took my daughter out of school early ( she could not give me one after school) and my husband took a half of day at work because she wanted us both to be there for her first appointment. We get to her office that day and there is a note on her door stating that all of her appointments for the day were cancelled. I call and leave her a message asking when we would be able to reschedule. I hear back from her over a week later, she apologized and rescheduled for 2 weeks later. ( March 18 at 3:30) I sent my daughter to school with a note yet again for an early dismissal. At around 1:00 pm Laurie calls me and says that she is not sure if she takes my daughters insurance, she has now had my daughters information for 2 months. I recomended that she find that out before I come there. She calls me back and says she doesn't take my insurance and she will now be billing me for our first appointment! She had all of this time to find this, my daughter could of been receiving treatment all of this time instead I had to deal with an incompetent professional. I do not see how this woman is able to practice medicine while treating patients this way. It is her responsibility to check insurance before accepting my appointment and also to give your patients notice when cancelling.
