Services We use a wide variety of treatment techniques and therapeutic modalities to thoroughly rehabilitate auto, work and sports-related injuries. Therapeutic exercise consists of a broad range of activities that are designed to improve strength, range of motion (ROM), flexibility and cardiovascular fitness; collectively increasing a patient's functional capacity for activities of daily living (ADL), work and athletic participation.

Chiropractic:

A health care discipline and profession that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine, under the hypothesis that these disorders affect general health via the nervous system.

Spinal Manipulation:

A therapeutic intervention performed by moving a joint beyond it's usual range of motion but not beyond the range of motion the joint is designed to move. The goal of spinal manipulation is to relieve pain and improve the body's physical function.

Therapeutic Modalities:

We use a variety of manual and mechanical techniques to relieve pain, increase range of motion (ROM), build strength, improve circulation and increase a patient's overall mobility.

Electrical stimulation:

Clinically, following surgery or injury, therapists use electrical currents to create muscle contraction, to increase strength and prevent disuse atrophy, through nerve or muscle stimulation, stimulate sensory nerves to reduce pain, stimulate or alter the healing process of injured tissue, preventing scar tissue and drive ions beneficial to the healing process through the skin into the healing connective tissues.

Heat therapy

Local "superficial heating" is recommended in sub acute conditions for reducing pain, increasing tissue elasticity and promoting healing of injured tissue. The most common applications of superficial heat in the clinic are by hydrocollator packs (moist heat).

This application of heat are simple and effective ways to relieve joint pain and residual swelling associated with injury, reduce muscle spasms associated with low back and neck strain, and help increase flexibility of tight muscles that are a result of skeletal muscle (eg., hamstring, quadriceps) strain.

Plyometric Exercise & stretching:

Plyometric exercises, which involve hops and bounding for the lower extremities, and medicine balls and other weighted equipment for the upper extremities, place significant stress on the musculoskeletal system, therefore, they are progressively incorporated in the later stages of recovery from injury.

Ultrasound & X-Rays:
Ultrasound and X-Rays are a vital toll in diagnosis and treatment.
Both ultrasound and x-rays are available on site at Rathmann Chiropractic.
