I recently had out-patient surgery at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA. The majority of people that I came into contact with on that day were pleasant and helpful...some could have used a refresher course in "Personality 101". The doctor who was doing my procedure showed up and to my dismay, was coughing up a storm. I asked him if he had a cold and he replied that he did ...but was on med's for it. He put on a mask but continued coughing through the entire procedure. It was not a quiet dry little cough...it was one of those wet sounding coughs that one gets with a bad case of the flu or a very bad cold. As a "doctor" (??), it seems to me that someone like that should know better (?) than to come to work with a very bad cold that they could indeed pass on to others. Hospitals are for sick people....not people who WANT to get sick.
