Entered the facility after a total knee replacement. Everyone was so sweet and chirpy and just so anxious to make my stay excellent. Well, it took only a few minutes for those smiles to disappear. I was in extreme pain from a total knee replacement 3 days earlier. They said my prescription would be there in about 2 hours. It arrived 8 hours later. They did have some oxycodone on site but needed to wait to get special permission to open the box - well that took 2 plus hours. Every time I needed my pain medication I had to search for a nurse who somehow had lost that nice smile when I asked for the medication. Took a minimum of 40 minutes each time to get. When I asked for help with my elastic TED stocking that I had to wear for one month the nurse who was in my room spun around and shook the orders from the DR at MGH and said that is not in our duties. I could have cried. But I did manage to get it on myself with great difficulty - well so much for compassionate care.

I had my daughter come early the next morning and help me gather my things. At first they said I could not have my 80 plus pain pills prescribed as they were really not in my name. Trust me controlled narcotic pain relievers are only put into the proper name. These drugs are very tightly controlled. Thought I should wait until Monday to see their DR and she would decide how I was doing. I was under the care of my surgeon and my primary care DR not some drive by Dr. Maybe they think all their patients are old and senile - I am not!

Well long story short I called MGH to see if they could help and also told them I would call the Manchester PD for assistance. Terrible experience!!!!!!!

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The staff went above and beyond to make my mother-in-law feel like she was right at home. We are able to come at anytime to visit and bring anything from home to help with the transition. They are loving, compassionate people who love their jobs!
