Fantastic experience! When I first entered PHP, I thought I was going to be in an environment like jail. This was not the case. Every day I woke up, I felt better and better. This was mostly due to my excellent counselor, and the education groups, which taught me what alcoholism is, and is not. This experience changed my life, and the other guys I met, were the best. I could not have asked for a better experience, and everyone treated me with respect.

Possibly the most positive experience of my life, hands down!
Entering the PHP program I was very reluctant and scared, expecting the worst. From the time I arrived to the time I left I felt like a new person. Thanks to having a great group of guys, a wonderful counseling staff as well as house managers.
The house is nothing special, but quite adequate. Meals are so-so, there is no Chef doing the cooking for you, but you are provided with meals. You have daily chores as can be expected with having a house full of guys (there were 11 there when I arrived). I had a great group of guys with much in common. Great to work with and talk to, many I have remained in contact through my recovery. They have been a great sober support system for me and I look forward to spending the rest of my life in contact with many of them. We all looked out after one another and developed a positive atmosphere conducive to recovery.
The counseling staff is fantastic. They are very knowledgeable and supportive. 3 hour group meeting are held each evening as well as on the weekends. Topics include: daily check ins, identification of alcoholism and addiction as a disease, art therapy, fun with recovery, and the family in recovery. In my 45 days in the program I was able to have all of the counseling staff for evening group meetings as well as personal 1 on 1 meetings. I have the utmost respect for the job they do. They do what they do because they love it and want you to succeed. I look forward to remaining in contact with and love all of them.
Each of the house managers is different in their own way, but all are willing to talk and help you in any way they possibly can. They will prepare meals for you; take you to meetings, including groups, AA and NA, shopping on Saturdays, and to the Laundromat. They make sure you do your chores, make your sponsor calls and hold regular house meetings and roasts for those leaving the recovery program. They are a caring group of guys who are all recovering addicts and alcoholics that are a wealth of knowledge in the field of recovery, many of which I am still in contact with and are part of my sober support system.
As I mentioned in the beginning if you are ready for recovery and keep a positive attitude this is a fantastic program that I have no reservations recommending to anyone that is ready to heal from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
