Last seen about May of 2004, therefore some of the following shortcomings might have been amended by this practitioner--though I doubt it: Mr. Evans was capable of some reasonably appropriate sympathy, however he showed no signs of empathy throughout the 6-moth duration of my sessions.

He answered most of my questions but I required more+better resources. His 'staff' apparently consisted of Mr. Evans himself, as he personally fielded all calls. He was not particularly courteous on the phone, and as often as not seemed to have a 'take it or leave it' attitude. He didn't help me as much as I needed (nor even basically indicated by the title 'L.C.S.W.') let alone hoped and though responded to the majority of my questions and concerns decidedly ignored some of them in therapy, preferring to focus more on childhood experience rather than addressing the import of current events in my life on an emotional level. He was occasionally gruff, flippant and rather callously self-absorbed, not to mention condescending +/ insulting in a few instances. I found the office, but only because I had fairly clear directions--though the room was not clearly marked in side + parking in the vicinity was challenging as often as not (especially on a tight budget.) Offered a sliding-fee scale, but in the end I feel I got the poorer treatment for not paying full expense. One of his methods of approach was somatic/physical activity which was especially emotionally liberating for a while, but his handling of the emergent pent-up emotionality was basically poor and mostly irresponsible. He proved better at withstanding and confronting anger than the deeper, underlying anguish. In fact he seemed to get an energetic charge off of helping to unleash/express aggressive emotionality to the point of self-satisfied distraction, and left the rest to be sorted out by one's self more often than not. Also, as matter of routine, he requires his clients to attend group therapy sessions moderated by himself, which proved more chaotic than his at times haphazard personal sessions--failing to mediate misunderstandings or especially dissenting opinion(ations) between men in the group, or even defending anyone against the obvious projections of others. Generally I do not recommend this practitioner for dealing with deeper emotional issues of greater delicacy, and I advise more empathically sensitive personality types to steer completely clear of his group therapy.
