by Nina Atwood, M.Ed., LPC Would you like to have a higher EIQ? If so, you can, but it is a process over time that requires your commitment to growth. If you languish in your comfort zone, you won't grow and your EIQ will not grow. If you want to develop your EIQ, do the thing that stretches you rather than the thing that feels safe and comfortable. If you have an opportunity to meet new people, jump all over it. Make yourself... 10/20/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Dr. Timothy Sharp Once again I bring you something based on a personal experience and as has happened so many times before, some lessons learned while playing with my children. Not that long ago I took my kids to a local playground that had recently been re-built. Not surprisingly, the "new" playground looked very nice and colourful and as a result, was quite attractive on the eye. My children happily sauntered in to... 10/20/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Dr. Timothy Sharp In response to one of my recent postings, "ewilson" asked whether it was in our nature to be more giving or selfish. Well I think it's both! We are inherently social animals but we're also built for survival. The reality is, we need to both look after ourselves and be cognisant of the group. If we don't take care of ourselves we can't ever really be healthy and happy. But if we're selfishly individual... 10/19/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Dr. Timothy Sharp At The Happiness Institute, we're looking to do some "pro bono" work with a wonderful charity called Camp Quality (www.campquality.org.au). Camp Quality is a non profit organization that is committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs. One of their... 10/18/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Dr. Timothy Sharp Last night I was at a wedding and after taking a photo of my table the wedding photographer came up and said hello, reminding me that she'd taken photos at my wedding, or my brother's wedding. The only problem was my wife and brother were sitting next to me and none of us recognized her as taking photos at either of our weddings! Some time later in the evening she came back and asked what I did...explaining... 10/18/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Mary Kay Morgan, MS CPT Silly question. Of course you are! But not intentionally of course - it's all because of your food programming. Convenient or not, our brains and every other cell in our body are programmed just like a computer. Taste buds are a great example. Did you know that it takes about 10 contacts with a new taste before the brain registers the new taste as pleasurable? 10 contacts! That's a lot of "YUCKs!"... 10/17/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Mary Kay Morgan, MS CPT Today's blog topic is food fundamentals. In spite of the millions of published pages on the subject, it really does come down to Michael Pollan's brilliant summation in his NY Times Sunday Magazine article titled Unhappy Meals: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." If your goal is to lose weight, increase your energy levels, think more clearly, improve your skin, alkalize your blood, detoxify, or... 10/16/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Diana Lang One of my students called me the other day from Paris asking me to please send a copy of my meditation CD to her as quickly as possible. She asked if I would send it overnight or whatever way was fastest to get it to her seven-year-old son. It was an emergency, she told me. They had forgotten it at home here in Los Angeles and her son just doesn't go to sleep without it. I mailed it out, smiling to... 10/15/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Mary Kay Morgan, MS CPT Sequencing refers to the logical progression of actions that lead to a desired result. If you stop and think about it, just about everything we do is "sequenced." Children begin with the A-B-C's and 1-2-3's not Beowulf and Algebra. Cooking with or without a recipe is another example of sequencing. If you tried to saute carrots before you washed, peeled and sliced them, your dinner might not be too... 10/15/2007 7:00:00 AM
by Dr. Lawrence J. Green I am currently at a big dermasurgery meeting in Chicago and am taking in all that I can on the lastest and greatest on ways to get rid of unwanted fat. I perform tumescent liposuction in my office, so I am always interested in what is new and improved here. This is what is being said by the researchers/investigators in the field: First, mesotherapy is being renamed "Injectable lipolysis." It is a more... 10/12/2007 7:00:00 AM
