were it possible to give negative number of stars I gladly would .Please if you seek a caring compassionate vet read my experience I had. Yesterday was a horrible day for us. my heart is broken, my brain is in a rage and I hurt so much I can't talk... our 14 yr old furry baby had to be helped across the rainbow bridge .... It is probably one of the most difficult things that we can do..., yet we do it out of love. Jasper thou " just a dog " to some he meant the world to us. I pray that no one else EVER has to have the same experience as did . Jasper was a very large dog to say the least and hated to ride in the car ( too many times got left at MSU ) so not wanting to traumatize him any further we sought out a veternarian who would make house calls ( for future reference his name is Dr. Mike Merrithew DVM ) of Veterinary House Calls Services and Clinic ) This was the beginning of our nightmare. Dr . Mike was extrememly rude , and abrupt with us . Showing no compassion to us , but worse he showed none to our beloved animal either. Slapping what was to be Jaspers last treat from my hands and yelling at me .He jerked cruelly on my dogs arms and was mad that he would pull back. He could have gently touched Jaspers arm and slid the tourniquet over it, but he seemed to take delight in this mean dominate uncaring behavior .Jasper would never have given him any trouble It was obvious and he had been told that this our precious baby was t weak and was not in his personality to be mean. I understand wanting to protect himself.., but he took it far beyond that .He in fact was cruel.... and while I am protesting to him because he has my dogs head in a position that is strangling him and my poor baby is looking up at me with fear , love and confusion in his eyes he injected our dog .. said" there it's over, he's gone ,you can lay him down where can I wash my hands " He would not let me hold my dog who could barely raise his head anymore, he screamed at me I was in his way when I was moving . He wanted my husband to hold our dog because " he is stonger" the dog has bare enough strength to raise his head . He kept screaming at me not to get near his face would not let me near my dog . His handling of my precious baby in his last moments on earth were unnecessarily ruff and mean. My husband was mortified and all I could do was yell that he was yell my personal opinion of him at that point. I believe in Karma and wish that someday he will be treated the same manner .... but truth I pray that no one else will ever have to go thru such a go thru such a terrible experience. I was a Nurse in intensive care for 39 yrs ... I have dealt with death and dying on a regular basis... but Never would I have such a disregard for Life , Never could I have so little compassion

This is the first time I have dealt with this place. I did not want to bring my baby in and make her feel fear as her last memory of this earth, so I called them to do a home visit to put my baby down, she had cancer, tumors and her kidneys were going. It was time. I asked the lady on the phone if they were good with cats as I cannot take it when people are rough with my animals.

I would have prefferred a female doctor, they said he was male. This man should have a new profession. He was beyond insensitive. He talked about his ex wife, didn't respond w, he had when my mom thanked him, he had the nerve to pick my cat up by the scruff twice, a different cat who rubbed against him and sling him across the floor!

With my cat who could not move, who is the sweetest cat in the world- he grabbed her scruff and flipped her on her side and rammed the needle up the back of her leg! He was NEVER gentle! Why on earth would he do this to a cat who could not move??? Who was purring and in pain. He didn't want me to touch her head while he was incredibly rough with her.

Then he proceeded to tell me not to touch her while the medication was setting in, WHATEVER! This is my baby's last moments and he wants to grab my other cat's neck and sling him for...what reason? Who comes into someones house and does this? And to talk about his ex and shoot the breeze like my cat is not dying. BEYOND insensitive. Seriously???

Then after my baby was at rest from the first shot, he proceeded to grab her scruff AGAIN while she was not even present and flip her on her side, ram the shot up her arm again! What the hell is wrong with this person??

He should nto be a vet and should not touch animals, he was not gentle, he was not kind and he was extremely out of touch with anyone's feelings in my home. You are very lucky sir it was my baby's last moments otherwise you would have been thrown out of my house.

He then proceeded to ram his stethoscope under my baby's arm by her chest. This is deplorable behavior.

I will make sure everyone I speak too who considers this place, does not.

This is such a delicate moment and I no matter if my baby was sick or not, no one is rough with my animals like that, especially a senior cat who cannot even move and is sitting there quite, gentle and so very sick. I could have held her while he did a shot or he could have given her a shot without slinging her broken body around and whipping her neck back on her side. I did not take her into the vet office so her body would not get hurt in the car! She was full of fluid in her legs and her tumors, and she threw up if she moved to much.

This was a HORRIFYING experience and to have my baby's last moments having someone be so incredibly aggressive and rough with her AND in my own home! With me and my mom. This man needs his license taken away.

Never again will I have someone new for my baby, even if I have to take them in and make them endure the car ride and fear, which is awful in itself, I would rather do that than have a stranger come in who treated my animal like they were a stuffed toy and disrespected her life.

This is my baby and I will pet her and kiss her all I want in her last moments. It took all my strength not to deck this man while he was being rough with my baby, who was sick. If she wasn't so sick she would have been scared to death of how he was slinging her around and grabbing her and stabbing her as hard as he could.

I don't understand anyone like this and I would not recommend anyone who cares about their baby's to ever let this man handle them, especially not in their last moments. He seems to have no heart about it and is as callous as they come. He disrespected my baby's last moments and he did it in my own home and her home. He treated her like garbage. This man should not be working with animals.

I won't let this tarnish her last moments and her day today but I needed to let other people know so they don't trust this doctor with their precious baby's. The office staff was nice when I called but the doctor was the worst vet I have ever seen. He should be kind, gentle and respectful in these moments, he was anything but. I could accept if he wasn't nice to me as long as he was gentle with my baby, but he was not.

They had one of the cleanest offices I've ever seen at any vet. I appreciated that they took the time to create a sterile environment for their patients. When comparing them to others I have visited for the same condition, they are among the best I have seen. My appointment was great. They saw my pet right away, and treated us very well. I was worried that they were going to wear an obnoxious cologne, because I've dealt with that at other places, but they didn't even wear cologne. It was fantastic to be able to breathe freely the entire time. It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional.
