PLEASE READ!!! I purchased vouchers from Rescue the Animals to have my two cats and my yorkie spayed/neutered. The instructions said to go to the Buffalo Gap Road Animal Clinic (Dr. Mark Hitchcock). I made an appointment and was there at 8 a.m. this morning. When I went in the vet was sitting at the reception desk. He asked for my paperwork then instructed me to follow a woman to the back to put up my babies. I put my yorkie in a kennel and the woman told me to put my entire cat carrier into the kennel. I put my cat carrier into the kennel and before I shut the door the vet comes around the corner and yells “Get that carrier out of the kennel.” So I take the carrier out and put both my cats in the kennel. The woman was still standing in the room with the kennels and I proceeded to ask her the condition my animals would be in when I came to pick them up. I was unsure how sedated they were and the aftercare that they would need. Before the woman could give me any information the vet yells across the room “they will get their food and water when they are ready.” I looked at the woman puzzled and told her I would return after work to pick up my babies. As I walk out of the kennel area, the vet loudly says “Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers.”
I proceed to my car where I sit for a few minutes feeling VERY uneasy about leaving my animals. If the vet will yell at me (with my four year old son standing next to me) and consider my questions about taking care of my animals stupid, how caring could he actually be? I call my boyfriend and we make the decision that I go back and get my animals because I didn’t feel comfortable leaving them at the clinic. I walk back in and the vet is sitting at the reception desk helping other clients. The lady that helped me put my babies up was standing over to the side. I asked if I could speak to her around the corner, so that I was not making a scene. I tell the woman that I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my animals at the clinic because of the way I was being spoken too. She tells me “I am his wife and he talks to me like that all the time.” As she stands there talking to me, the vet gets up and rolls his chair halfway across the room and begins to yell at me. He asked “What is your problem? You don’t like the way I am talking to you?” I say no and that I just wanted to get my animals and leave. He stormed back to the kennel area yelling “find someone else who will spay your animals for $30” and threw the kennel door to my yorkie open. I shut the door and turn around to get my cat carrier so I can put my cats into their carrier before picking up my dog. As I am putting my cats into the carrier he is still telling me to “find another vet that will do this so cheap.” He picks up my carrier and proceeds to walk towards the front door. I am carrying my dog and holding my sons hand. As we walk outside he begins saying “Did I hurt your feelings? You don’t like how I talk to you? You think you can find someone else?” I open my backdoor so I can put my cats in the backseat. As I turn to get my carrier, he swings my carrier into my backseat. My cats hit the carrier door and the kennel slams into my son’s car seat. I sat the carrier up, shut the door and proceeded to walk around to put my son into his car seat. All the while, the vet is yelling “you have all these feelings that I hurt and now you are crying. You are so sensitive because I hurt your feelings.” I buckled my son in, closed the door, and he was still badgering me. As I walk to my side of the car I tell him to please move away from my car. He continues to badger me. I open my car door and begin to get in and he continues to yell and carry on about “hurting my feelings” until he was walking back into the office door.
PLEASE. I’m begging you- do NOT take your animals to this man. He not only yelled at me in front of my 4 year old son, but was aggressive with my animals. All because I asked about the condition my babies would be in after their surgery. I have NEVER encountered someone so unprofessional and a human being so rude. He has no business working with animals (or people for that matter). I was doing what is best for my babies, having them spayed/vaccinated, and had no idea that I would endure such a horrific person. I went to the police department and filed a complaint and will also report this man to the BBB and the Veterinary Licensing Board. Please save your animals from this man and take your business elsewhere.
