This review concerns abysmal treatment of my pet’s needs, primarily regarding the refusal to renew a prescription for seizure medication. I have not been going to this vet for long, but nearly every time I have been there, the office manager’s attitude has ranged from unpleasant to outright rude. The others who sit around the front desk are generally dismissive, but not overtly rude.

My dog started having seizures in September 2022, and they became very frequent in early November 2022. We started him on the minimum dose of phenobarbital for his weight, and blood tests looking for possible causes were all negative. He has responded well to the treatment and has not had a seizure since November.

The vet sold me the initial medication, then after three weeks or so, I started getting the scripts filled at a pharmacy to save money. I was told to just call when I needed a new script and they would have one for me to pick up. I complied with every request to come in for testing and monitoring.

In May 2023, during a monitoring exam, I asked if the next visit could be in August, when I brought my dog for his annual shots. The vet said that would be fine. However, on July 15, 2023, I called for my script to be renewed because he was almost out of his last refill. A vet assistant told me that the vet was leaving town for two weeks after that day, and that she would only refill for seven days. I asked why could it not be filled for the usual 30, and was told that the dosage might be reduced. Highly unlikely as he was on the minimal dose, and I had asked if it was possible to try reducing it and see how he does, and the vet denied that. I explained that seven days would probably not last till the vet got back and I had the next appointment, and I even counted out the number of pills left to confirm that I would not have enough with just seven additional days (not to mention they were charging 500% of what I was getting the medication for).

At this point I started imagining my dog going through his seizures again and became decidedly upset at this refusal of his medication. I asked again why they were refusing to give him his medication, and the phone was handed to the office manager, who said they would call me back. They did not. I later left two polite messages ask them to call me back before closing at 1pm, which they had implied would be my last chance to have the script issued, and they still did not return my call.

The following Monday, July 17, they did call back and said they would provide the 30 day script. There was no apology or any indication that they were accountable to their complete lack of professionalism and for putting my pet in danger.

There are some other problems with this clinic, which I’m guessing have worsened since the new ownership, but I’m going to limit this to the prescription issue because that is the most serious and directly endangering issue. I will not be back to this clinic, and I would suggest that others carefully consider other vets before coming to this office.

This is a small veterinary clinic. It has a small town feel. The veterinarion is super friendly, takes time to explain, gives you the best options but most of all just loves and cares for your pets! I take my dogs and cats there!! He is awesome. And his staff is super friendly. Definitely feel at home. And the pricing is affordable!
