The office staff at Poughkeepsie - is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL - COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL - NASTY - SEVERE LACK OF SYMPATHY - SHARING PRIVATE INFO IN FRONT OTHERS IN THE WAITING ROOM !! LACK OF KNOWLEDGE - COLD - OFFICE IS COMPLETELY FILTHY AND THE SMELL IS HORRID !! The therapist so far is good otherwise I WOULD NOT EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS HELL HOLE !!!!

Beware!!! I went to the Kingston office & was told I would be seeing a psychiatrist. The woman I saw kept pulling out a cheat sheet to prescribe meds. Each time I went, she tried to switch meds around. After leaving the office one day with 4 different scripts, I asked to see someone else. I found out later that I was seeing an NP, not an actual doctor. The next NP I saw there spent the entire visit talking about herself. After seeing another practice, I was told the first NP never should've prescribed any of the meds she did (was glad I never filled the scripts).

The office was disgusting &, while the receptionist was incredibly sweet, she spent a ton of time gabbing instead of answering the phone which was frustrating if you were locked outside & couldn't get anyone to open the door.

When you are in crisis, this place works and it takes you. After 5 calls to private practice doctors who didn't have time, or wouldn't take someone who didn't initiate the call, Spectrum came through. My husband was in sever depression and he couldn't make the first call or swim through calls and appt. questions. We got the appointment on first try after a short intake. When I first opened the door to their office, I noticed a faint cigarette smell. This clinic will take cash payments and many sources but not all so you'll find people without insurance in tough situations. The smell I think comes from some people who are there for chemical dependenc support and nicotine cessation hence the smell of cigarettes if there is a client like that in the lobby at the time. However, that diversity IS the benefit of this clinic. Some therapists won't take you as a cash payment or without insurance and it takes long to get it and if you are seeking help for an adult (your parent, your spouse, etc) they won't take you. If Spectrum has an appointment they'll take you in rather quickly if not it is usually a week or two for a first appointment at the latest. Generally you need a phone intake appt. and if you want to skip that and ask a quick question or make an appointment as an already registered client, call 845-458-3506, They always return my phone calls quickly if we leave a message but in fact, during business hours they always answer so no need for a return call. The doctor's aren't cheaper than most private practices, but they are kind, reasonable, patient and give you the solid service and make sure every single question I had was answered. They were friendly I'll definitely be going back until and if I find a private practice that is closer to my home or will take me but there is no rush for that right now as they are doing the job. It feels like social service office in their decor but the goal there is a medical service and I don't think they spend time or money on their chairs, decor, or anything else that isn't the patient only. I didn't have a bad experience it was just not a posh experience and when you need help, medications or are in crisis, that is all that matters.

My review is to do with the receptionists rather than the psychiatrist my daughter was seeing. Across the board I have consistently found them to be unhelpful to the point of rudeness.
