I Do Not recommend Dr. Ronald Gruen. He treated my daughter with disrespect and made her feel responsible and guilty for certain behavior issues. Also he turned her against her mother, and me, and even told my daughter to find a a new family physician because he had a personal dislike for him. Please find another psychologist.

Seems like the other reviewer has slammed the other sites so I feel compelled to tell my story as I had the complete opposite experience. My ex-husband and I saw Dr. Gruen for a custody evaluation and I found him to be very thorough, thoughtful and fair. He made what was a horrendously sad and difficult time for my family into something positive. My ex and I now work together as a team and are putting our daughter's needs first. My daughter also loved visiting Dr. Gruen's office as his receptionist was very kind and always took an interest in making her feel comfortable and positive about herself.

Dr Gruen was supposed to provide a "bonding evaluation" with my foster child & I. Since this was my first one I did not know what to expect. He did'nt observe my foster child & I playing or interacting at all. He only talked to me about my concerns for the child, the child's behavior, etc.
He didn't even ask for a report card. But I brought it anyway and showed
him. Dr Gruen only gave a cursory glance at it. My foster some had already made significant improvement in the 3 months of living with us yet this psychologist never reacted to the report card. I felt he had his mind made up even before the evaluation was complete.
The worse part was when he asked my foster child who he wanted to live with; asking him in front of me "who do you want to live?" and then
"why?" The child was 7 years old ! So unprofessional and in poor judgement. The child had just had a supervised visit with his birth parent who he had not seen in at least 6 months. The father bought the child a cell phone and had given it to the child just an hour before the bonding evaluation. Of course a 7 yr. old is going to say I want to live with my father after just been given a phone and viewing the father as a hero for traveling across the country to see her/him. Dr. Gruen really wasn't interested in listening to me, a foster mom, as I believe he already had his mind made up.
