I have been to see George Gardner several times in the past 2 months. At first, I felt like he started to listen to my perspective, but quickly downplayed the emotions I was having about the situation my marriage was in. At that point I didn't feel like he cared about what I was saying. In fact he almost fell asleep several times during our personal sessions. I started seeing George by myself at first, and then my husband started going so we could do marriage counseling and work out our problems together. Since my husband started seeing him I have felt like George dismisses my feelings and emotions completely, I haven't got the unbiased advice I was so hoping for. George seemed to ALWAYS side with my husband even when the issues we were dealing with was a direct result of my husbands dishonesty. He completely dismissed my husbands deceit. George's advice was so heavily weighted towards one side, that he made me feel like the emotions I was having about my husbands deception were my own fault. He disregarded the feelings I had about the wrong that was done to me. This is a direct quote from one of our sessions; my husband was talking about my insecurity about being overweight, George turned and asked me 'is that true?' I replied "yes I am insecure about my weight because I got bullied so much when I was in elementary school.' Counselor George's response (very sarcastic) 'great'
