Today, 11/17 will be the second visit to this place and I already have issues with the billing process. I provided this place with my insurance card and wrote the information on the registration form during my first visit 11/2/21, it’s bad enough I was charged incorrectly the first time but had it credited back and now I have received a bill before the insurance even paid anything which my insurance closed out their claim because they sent the information to the wrong address.(per my insurance co.) Therefore, the bill has to be resubmitted. I will have to change facilities after two visits with billing issues. I am coming to realize that you really have to pay close attention to the workers behind the registration desk. I have been feeling like a scam is trying to be played on me when it comes to the money part of it. The co pays, deductibles etc…They haven’t done anything right other then credit my money back from the first visit and the therapist . my son really liked her but, sorry I may have to tell him, today will be his last visit. Just wish the therapist was at another facility.

I am not sure who wrote the reports that are negative but I have been a patient at the center for six years and have been treated with the utmost respect by the doctors and office staff. I have been in the waiting room and have watched all patients be treated in the same manner. It is unfair to make such statements unless there are facts to back it up. Sounds like there are just people out there that did not get what they wanted and so decided to blame it on Columbia Counseling Center. I am more than willing to speak to anyone about my experience, The only place in which you will receive fair and proper treatment is at the Columbia Counseling Center.

I gave the office a 2.5 because the Psychologist and Psychiatrist, I see are fantastic but the office staff is lacking professionalism. The office staff make you wait until they are available to check in, which requires you to stand in the middle of the waiting room for all the other patrons to look at you until the office staff beckons you. If you have already spoken with them, sat down and the office staff is trying to get your attention; the office staff screams your name and also screams what they wanted to say to you from there desk. They do not give messages to the therapist. The administrative staff who do there job, never last, very high turnover rate in administration. Due to this and the way the front desk staff treats clients, they have a high turn over rate with there Psychologists and Psychiatrists. When you ask to speak with the person in charge, they skirt the issue. They give you a time for your appointment but don't share whether it is AM or PM.

I have been to this office quite a few times. I have found the Psychologists to be friendly and easy to talk to. I felt comfortable with both individuals I have worked with. However, I just had an encounter over the phone with one of the receptionist's by the name of Alisha (not sure of spelling). I called to ask if my paper work I submitted for the doctor had been completed. She replied "the doctor is still working on it". I asked what the delay was as I submitted the paperwork last week and it is time sensative material. A battle of words ensured and she proceeded to tell me I had an attitude and was rude and she would not talk to me. I couldn't believe her tone and defensive-ness. Granted, I was not exactly excited the paperwork was still not completed (even though when I called a few days before, they stated it would be done and I would get a call). But I did not deserve to be attacked by her harsh words.

I have been in Customer Service for years (now an Account Manager) and I have had to handle many callers that were way more frustrated than I was and I never lashed out at them by calling them rude and telling them they had an attitude. If any thing, you need to deal with frustrated callers by first being empathic no matter what the situation and try and talk that person down from their frustration.

In any even, I proceeded to battle back with Alisha (which was not good). Here I am calling a counciling office who treats people going through mental health issues, stress, anxiety, etc and instead of defusing my frustratioin, she completely added to it. I was more angry when I got off the phone than when I had called.

The front line people who handle calls need to be able to be simpathic, not take things personally. They need to do their best to defuse and be sensative to the patients they are dealing with on a daily basis. She clearly does not have the skill to handle situations that would involve patients who are under extremely stressful situations and need to be handled with a lot more sensativity.

Alisha clearly couldn't handle my call and eventually passed me on to Laura. , whom I have spoken with before. Laura does have a sweet tone and even though she basically said the same thing as Alisha, it came acoss completly differently and did not put me on the defensive at all. She even called back to let me know the paperwork was infact completed although Alisha stated it was not.

Bottom line, Alisha is not a good representative of this practice and I would encourage upper management to take a closer look at her "attitude" towards clients. Even if I was rude as she stated, telling me I am rude and have an attitude is no way to handle a disgruntled patient.. I recommend Alisha enroll herself in some classes that would teach her how to handle difficult situations without lashing out at the patient even if she feels they were less than polite. Especially if she is going to work in a field such as this. I would appriciate an apology as I am a patient who should be treated with respect no matter what.

The office was well organized and well taken care of; it is also inviting for children with books and an area for them to play in. They definitely care about patient comfort because they have the best waiting room chairs I've ever seen. I could have easily taken a quick nap while waiting for my appointment. The doctor I have seen is a caring person who has an excellent memory for previous visits/issues.

Several times, when I have tried to renew prescriptions the wires have gotten crossed. The reception staff either didn't pay attention to what I said, or they didn't care enough to relay the proper information. Twice I made an appointment, then had my pharmacy fax in a new prescription---these were denied stating that I "needed to make an appointment." Even though I had taken all the proper steps, I had to call repeatedly to get what I needed. The office staff were a little too argumentative and condescending. They didn't seem like they wanted to listen to what I had to say.
