My daughter went there a few nights ago intending to be voluntarily admitted because she was suicidal. It was like something out of Kafka. Here's how the admissions interview with a smirking RN went:

RN: Do you want to stay here? You can leave, you know.
She: i want to see a doctor.
RN: There are no doctors here.
She: What? it's a hospital.
RN: There are no doctors here because it's nighttime. You could go to county services.
She: When could i see one?
RN: You can only see one if you're admitted. Do you want to be admitted?
She: But when are they here?
RN: It depends.
She: On what?
RN: On the doctor.
She: When does the earliest one come in?
RN: It depends.

We left. The RN was pretty satisfied with himself for having won the encounter.

I was hospitalized here when I was 16 and was held for a week. I met with my social worker once, the day I was released. My "doctor" diagnosed me with bipolar II after having spoken to me once. They took me off my medication cold turkey and I suffered withdrawal symptoms. I got absolutely no help at all, and the psych tech's idea of "help" only worsened my situation.There was a lot of writing on the walls ("help me", "i want to die", etc), and the shower was a breeding ground for mold. Additionally, once I was released they refused to cooperate with our insurance after they said they would upon intake. Please don't take your child here under any circumstances.

I attended the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) voluntarily. Staff was caring and created a "safe space." Fellow participants also a joy to journey with through mental illness. Time is split into different types of therapies - group, CBT, DBT, movement, art etc. Very much helped me heal and doc got me on the right meds with little to no side effects. Now instead of "surviving" I'm "thriving" - one of their favorite sayings. Never been inpatient so can't comment - but I'd recommend the PHO program. Admissions staff for the assessment at the actual hospital was also extremely compassionate.

Only complaint is the nurses at PHP who are not the most professional - have trouble remembering names (despite the name tags) ask personal questions about medications in front of other, not aware of all the meanings of the forms (i.e. asked me if my drinking was binge, continuos, or occasional and when I asked for clarification her response was, "I don't know, I don't drink.")

My doctor and the social workers are great to work with.

Everything they told me in the beginning ended up turning out exactly the way they said it would. They were able to provide me everything they promised me. I've never doubted their abilities. I love that they never cancel their appointments last minute here. I can always count on them to be there for me. They always go above and beyond to help me with anything I need. They never complain about anything, and I know I can always count on them. They needed to pay a little more attention to detail, to make sure they didn't make any mistakes. I could tell their entire attention wasn't focused on me. They are always prepared for my appointment and remember everything about me.

Horrific, I'm a former CIA employee and CIA sent here against my will after a car accident. Dominion Hospital abuses its patients, I witnessed it and was horrified, they will not help you or your loved one get better. The nurses, doctors, social workers are unprofessional and driven by collecting as much as they can from your insurance company. Or in my case, doing the CIA's bidding in hopes more US taxpayer dollars will come their way... Richard L. Roth, MD gave me a false pyshcotic diagnosis, so did Dominions Medical Director Gary L. Litovitz, MD. Dominion Hospital staff do not have your best interests in mind. Here's my story on my experience with Dominion Hospital and the CIA:

I AGREE with the person below. I just wish I had the opportunity to see this before wasting my time at this facility and gone elsewhere. I arrived more than 30 minutes prior to my appointment because I knew I had to fill out paperwork. I waited another two hours in the waiting room after mt scheduled appointment before being seen by the admissions staff and she didn't know how to work the computer! So I was there in her office for another 1.5 hours sitting in the chair answering questions about my meds that were already listed on the form that I had filled out. I would be cut off abruptly when I was answering "her" questions!!! My gut was telling me to LEAVE because they just raised my anxiety and frustration so much that I didn't even bother following through with their Partial Hospitalization program. The doctor who was supposed to call me didn't even return my call. It's horrible when you need help and you can't get it!

If your thinking about attending this place might as well kill yourself now. these people have absolutly no respect for anyone but themselves. they treat you like garbage so they can get a power trip. Alot of the girls cried themselves to sleep because of the savage way we were treated! The staff lie to eachother to keep us locked in our rooms! I had to use the restroom one day during a session and this women told the other staff that i had been sent to my room because i cursed at her! absolutely unbelievable! and not only that but the reason i found this out is because I asked another staff member whom was sitting their next to us when i was sent to my room fully knowing that i had not done anything wrong and their she was lying to defend the evil head mistress! It has been several years since i attended but i still have emotional scars from this place! not to mention bills! not only do they harrase you constantly but they steal your money!
