They always remember my pets. They are kind and they even took in a bird that I had tried to save from my cat but was clearly dying.

This is the absolute worst veterinary clinic in Juneau. Unfortunately we really don't have any choices.
1. I have a dog with epilepsy and food allergies. The only way I found this out was from Vic Walker coming to my house and examining my dog. I had taken my (three year old maltese) dog to SE Vets about five or six times regarding hot spots, ear infections, eye infections. They gave me this and that and this ear treatment and that. Vic came over and looked at my dog for about five minutes before telling me he needed special food and prednisone. ONE appointment and I have saved hundreds of dollars. So thank you, Vic.
He has epilepsy. The vet has called me MONTHLY for five months telling me I need to bring my dog in for blood levels to be tested. He hadn't had them tested in four months and they told me it was illegal according to the FDA for him to receive his LIFETIME medication. I was forced to bring him in. Afterwards, I went online and researched. It is not illegal. It is recommended for a dog to get blood levels checked every six months, but not necessary. That same day the vet wouldn't let me leave without buying a "special" shampoo and conditioner. Fifty dollars down the drain. They won't let me return it.
2. I have two rats. I took my first rat in because she was very, very ill. They diagnosed her with pneumonia and gave me baytril. The vet told me it would be enough baytril for my other rat too, in case she caught it. I went home and two days later my rat passed away. He obviously didn't let me know that she would possibly pass. He said it was very likely she would "make a full recovery". My second rat has gone in TWICE for a UTI. Without any proof that she actually has one. No urinalysis has shown that she has one. I used the baytril leftover from my previous rat visit and ran out midway through the round of antibiotics, so apparently the vet knew that my rat was likely going to pass because there was nowhere near enough antibiotics for two full rounds. I took her back in, got more baytril because it didn't work the first time and she is still sick. I just called them asking for a different antibiotic. I was transferred to a doctor who knows nothing about rats and was googling it when I was on the phone with him. I am aware of this because he would pause for two or three minutes then say "ah yeah uhhh looks like it could be a um a bladder stone..?". I told him she has none of those symptoms and he told me he would not give me another antibiotic. I said I would call him back because the only vet that knows anything about rats is not in until tomorrow and he said "ANYONE can look at a rat. Everyone knows that". No. You can't. He knows nothing.
3. I have a cat who was overusing her litterbox all of a sudden. Everything seemed absolutely fine other than that so I called just for an opinion. The PHARMACIST told me to rush her right in (the pharmacist...not a vet). I brought her in and the vet took her to the back "did an ultrasound but I'm not going to charge you for it, shhh don't tell" and said her bladder looked fine and not swollen. He also did blood work and said everything was normal. I said great okay what should we do? He never brought her back to the room and said he needed to give her two separate shots for her "pain". I argued and said she wasn't in any pain. He told me that one was for the inflammation and one was to make her 'happy'. I said okay but you told us there was no inflammation. "WELL see I don't know that for sure. She could have some." What? "Also I'm giving her antibiotics for a UTI". "She doesn't have a UTI because you said her blood shows she has no infection and you haven't done a urinalysis". "I can't do a urinalysis because her bladder is too small and isn't inflamed so I wouldn't be able to stick it with the needle". This makes no sense. I gave up fighting. The other cats owner went up to pay and said she wasn't paying for or getting antibiotics. The vet came out and wouldn't let her leave until she took them and paid for them.
We got home and I changed our cats litter because I assumed that the new litter was causing the behavior. All of her her possible UTI symptoms vanished without ONE dose of the antibiotics. And as a side note, she was not in the least bit sedated from her 'pain shots'. She was completely normal. Basically we got ripped off $275.00.
These vets are crooks and have basically ripped me off thousands of dollars over the past five years. I absolutely despise them and will never be going back after my experience today. DO NOT recommend. The half star is for the front desk staff as they are the only competent friendly people in there.

I will never take my animals here again, nor will I recommend this hospital to anyone as a boarding facility. They don't really take that extra step to make my pets feel special. I'm just another client to them. The staff here is super rude and not welcoming at all. They would rather talk/argue amongst themselves than to any clients! It was awful how rough they were with my pet. My dog's bed reeked of urine. She also looked like she had mange. The shot records were reviewed by 2 people when the dog was dropped off. 2 days later received a phone call stating that they only accepted 1 year vaccines & my dog had 3 yr, with 2 years left. So if I wanted the dog to be continuted boarding there, I had to have vaccines given to her. What really got me was that they had the records for 2 weeks before the dog was even dropped off but they "lost" them & my old vet had to fax them again. Never again will my dog stay there.

We took our dog there because of allergies and hot spots. They did thyroid blood work up and sold us thyroid meds; first visit including meds was almost $400.00!! It's been over a month now and no improvement in our dog. Went to the locally owned pet store, spoke with one of the owners and he recommended a spray and ointment and wow, what an improvement in her skin and coat. We also put her on a prescription diet dog food. Our dog is doing much better. Won't be going back to this vet. Nice people, but their main interest is money, not your pet! They should have given us something to help with her hot spots and allergies. Also, if you can't afford to pay, they won't see your pet! Two stars only because the staff are nice.
