Not a compassionate person. I found him to be rude and insulting.

I saw Lanier for what I as told was a joint therapy session with my exhusband. I agreed with some reservation because he is my exhusband's regular therapist. It went badly, due to much anger on both sides. That certainly wasn't Lanier's fault. However, my exhusband reports that after I left the session Lanier sat with him and discussed me in a very judgemental terms which my exhusband gleefully repeated to me.I don't know if this is true, but if it is the things that were said would be considered unethical in the best terms. But the session actually made things worse. It was very upsetting.

The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Jim is very confidential. You can tell him anything. He is direct and you do not wonder what he is thinking. He explores solutions with you and listens to your input. Often people do not understand that counseling is a relationship, and that takes time. Many people go to counselors to get answers in a few sessions. It does not take just a few hours for ourl ives to get into such messes so how can counselors help us fix it in just 3 hours? Jim has been doing this for years, and has a lot of experience. He looks out for the best interest of his clients.

Jim is very personable. My 16 yr old daughter and I have both seen him for some time and we both have improved the way we feel about ourselves and each other. We see him separately and together. He is discreet with our visits, never disclosing what each of us is talking about in private with him. He has helped our family through some tough bumps!
