When I moved from CA to Miami I chose out of convenience Carlos Luis as my agent. I insured my 2 cars and my house with them.

A year later I wanted to add Flood insurance, but after being stalled by Lourdes for weeks I bought this insurance through another State Farm agent. They could get it within a few days. I was a little surprised by the bad service of Lourdes, but I did let it go.

This year in February I noticed that the car insurances once again was raised, but this time by 11%. Not just the 1.5% that is stated on the notice, so I started checking with other insurances. I found a price for the exact same coverage for 57% less than through State Farm.

I believe that my agent always deserves a second chance, so I called them to see if they can match the price and also asked them as to why my rates were being raised without them notifying me. My original agent Lourdes could not be bothered and passed me on to Manuel. He proceeded to tell me that all Florida auto insurance rates were being raised and that I wasn’t the only one whose rates were going up. Fine. But let me know instead of me having to call and find out why. He then pointed out that they are the Mercedes of insurance companies so the price difference is justified. I told him that my 97 Audi with 165000 miles does not have or need the “star” and that I would switch at the end of the contract insurance providers.

Manuel took that conversation to cancel the contract premature without giving me notice. He also never produced a Claims History Letter, required by the new insurance. Manuel promised that letter within 2 days.

Over the next 2 weeks I called twice to check on that letter, but never got anything. Then I got the cancellation notice from State Farm, showing that the insurance had been cancelled by Manuel.

I went in person to the agency to talk to my original agent Lourdes, just to clear everything up. From the waiting room I could see her, but she refused to see me and passes me on to Manuel after 45 minutes of waiting. The receptionist told me that she was on the phone or with a client, but because I could see her I knew that that was a lie.

It took me 2 hours to straighten out their wrong-doing, leaving I promised to myself that I will never be back!

The service in this agency is not Mercedes but Yugo. My home insurance will be switched next.
