Yesterday, I spent 8 hours in the ER with my son who was finally diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He was infected from his esophagus to his anus and had a fever which only took the nurse 2 hours to finally take, attitude and all. He was nausiated, bleeding rectally and in extreme pain. He was NOT admitted, the doctor could NOT recommend a gastroenterologist and he was sent home with a prescription for percocet. Any one who knows this insidious disease knows that when it has reached this level, hospitalization is the ONLY way. Percocet is a joke for pain that morphine barely touches and to not recommend or call someone within the hospital system who does know specialists is unacceptible.
