I was grateful they could squeeze an appointment in last minute to discuss the sudden and very critical illness our regular vet diagnosed but it rapidly went downhill.

The vet barely examined our pet, repeatedly dodged direct questions, fell back on sales pitch talk -- all while pushing the most expensive, all-inclusive series of procedures. He barely allowed an examination of the written estimate but flashed it at me and then held it down on the table with his hand over it. Seriously. This was unnerving. I had read enough to question some of the sequence and was also rejecting some of the proposed procedures. This appeared to rattle and annoy him.

The illness is likely terminal and if left up to this gold digger, they would do everything they could, cause lots of suffering to our beloved pet who will likely die anyway and we would be out thousands. It was hard to know whether to pursue even palliative treatment with such run around, non-information, my-way-or-the-highway from this clown. And I had made it clear that palliative treatment assessment is all that I was there to discuss.

Had I known of a critical care clinic in Rockledge at the time, I would have walked out on him and refused to pay. But they were a referral from our regular vet and I thought the only game in town for what we needed. He even had the nerve to pressure me to make a decision after being there all of maybe 15-20 minutes by threatening extra "after hours" charges for being so slow to make a decision (it was slow because he was not answering the questions as asked). This was like some bad used car salesman experience.

Out of frustrated duress, I opted for two tests, the least invasive he offered, and still had to appease him getting one more test than we wanted. I was told to call in two days.... like they can't be bothered to pay attention and call you. When I did call, I found out we wouldn't get results for several more days on the only test we were really interested in because they send that one out. We might have gotten quicker results elsewhere but no chance of that now. That's pure greedy Wall Street brand manipulation at work there.

To add insult to injury, when I called back as instructed and discovered this delay, they initially couldn't find us in their system... because they spelled our last name wrong. After paying with a credit card! Incredulous! The topper? The test we didn't want came back with fine results, as I suspected it would, which is why we didn't want it in the first place.

Conclusion: Rip Off City at worst and Bumbling Incompetency at best. I have put a call into their Operations Manager to complain and if I don't get some results there, further action may be necessary.
