"Old-School" veterinary care is what your pet will get at Spirit Mountain Animal Hospital. My advice is to go elsewhere, to a clinic where up-to-date, modern practices are in-place.

Dr. Greene performed surgery on my kitten that was deemed "major" surgery according to Spirit Mountain's own documentation. We were told that she had a 24-hour pain injection. I did not question the judgment of Dr. Greene's choice for post operative pain treatment but found out later, from a past veterinarian of ours, that this type of pain management, or lack of, is very "Old-School".

We requested a recheck appointment with Dr. Greene two days after we originally brought the kitten home, when it had become apparent that she was experiencing pain. At this appointment we told Dr. Greene of our concerns of dehydration, fever, hiding and drooling, and a hard lump at the surgical site. Dr. Greene's response and recommendation was that this was the normal healing process and to bring her back if she got worse.
The kitten was in such pain that she was drooling! How much worse does she have to get, and how much more pain should she have to experience before Dr. Greene does something to alleviate her suffering? Alleviating pain and suffering IS the veterinarian's professional obligation. Dr. Greene also knew that we were travelers and were moving out of the area if the kitten was well enough. No other recommendations were given to us.

The very next day, we had to take the kitten to an emergent care facility where she was found to be severely dehydrated and running a fever. She had to stay there for two nights. We were told at this facility that the manner in which Dr. Greene performed the surgery on the kitten was "Old-School". (That was the 2nd time that that term came up, by 2 different doctors.)

The kitten eventually had to have additional surgery to repair tissue that had not healed properly due to pain-related stress. The end result of Dr. Greene's negligence and "Old-School" manner of care cost us over $4000.00, in addition to a ton of time caring and concern for a very sick kitten.

As travelers, we rely on the reviews of others. May this review help another.
