Dr. Gonzalez did surgery for our much-adored pitbull mix's torn ACL (knee ligament). As a retired veterinarian myself, I was extremely impressed with the care our dog received. One of my previous dogs had had a (different) surgery for the same issue and while the surgeon was excellent and surgery was successful, the post-op experience was miserable - she was in a LOT of pain for quite a while, and the pain meds never seemed to get it quite under control. Dr. Gonzalez was incredibly kind and professional in talking us through our fears about the surgery, and our dog recovered beautifully. His post-op care management was great - her pain was very well handled with medication, and despite having major surgery that required 8 weeks of post-op exercise restriction, she was bearing weight within a couple of days and is now (10 weeks post-op) walking and running without a limp. While every surgery is different and complications can happen no matter how good you are, I was especially impressed by the fact that while there was the expected amount of post-op swelling, there was no bruising of the surgical site - that tells me this surgeon has excellent tissue handling skills. The whole staff of the hospital was helpful, informative, and kind as well.
