Our 11 month old kitten hasn't been able to jump and has hardly been able to walk for the past week. After calling for two days straight, I finally got someone on the phone. The gal had asked if we could come in within the next half hour which I appreciated as it felt like my girl's condition had been getting worse by the day.

When we saw Roundy he was roughly handling my girl. She was already in distress as she can no longer perform the activities that she once was able to and is likely in pain at only 11 months old. She's typically pretty shy but never aggressive towards vets. Everything I had mentioned that I thought could be wrong with her, he immediately had a condescending and snarky remark to shoot back at me.

He was being so rough with her that she bit him while getting x-rayed and he yelled at her calling her a "little bastard." He then flung her onto the table in our room, she can't use her back legs so she fell off and landed on the floor on her side. He ignored me when I asked for a wet paper towel to wipe her off so we sat there for 10 mins with HIS blood all over her. He commented to the vet assistants that normally people apologize when their animals bite him. To which I retorted that, I am not sorry.

We found that she has hip dysplasia in one hip but we do not know which one as he forgot to mark it when performing the x-ray and used the excuse that he forgot because she bit him. I'm not sure what else he would expect with the way he handles animals and his very unsympathetic attitude.

Within the first few minutes of meeting him I knew that this was not going to go well. His disposition and rude remarks were a red flag right away. Then with the mishandling of my kitten, I knew that we were never going back there.

I do not recommend folks going here with their pets. I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Truly appalling and disheartening.

I have been using Dr Joe Roundy for more then 28 yrs. Out of all the vets in Tooele county he is the only one that has ever answered the phone & showed up for emergency doesn’t matter what time it is. Joe very experienced! and down to earth vet! He has came to the clinic on Sundays after hours for my horses & dogs.. His Staff has been there for years and are amazing! Highly recommended

Worst Vet Ever!!! This is a long story so I will try to just do a timeline format. If you are using him as a vet or thinking about using him in the future BE CAREFUL.
Sunday after 3:00pm- We left for vacation at 3:00pm sometime after that our two little micro chipped dogs got out of our yard. At some point they were picked up and taken to Tooele Veterinary Clinic (Joe Roundy-vet). When our family came later that evening to care for the dogs they were gone.
Sunday Night - Tuesday Morning-Our family drove around for hours looking for the dogs, we called the neighbors and posted info on Facebook about them missing. We didn't bother calling the pound because they were chipped and we were told we would receive a call if they were picked up.
Tuesday Afternoon- Out of desperation we called the pound just to see if they happened to be there. They were and my mother was told that she could not pick them up without vaccination records.
Wed.- My husband called Tooele Veterinary Clinic to see what was all needed in order to pick up the dogs. He asked the person who answered the phone when the dogs were chipped. He was immediately transferred to Joe Roundy. He asked the same question. He was immediately met with a very annoyed, angry and rude Roundy who told him that his scanner was broken and that if we really cared about the dogs we would have called Sunday night. Conversation continued to heat as he started talking about how Mexicans stole his dog and he found it much faster than we found our dogs. My husband found that statement racist and completely off topic from our situation. We didn't want to pay for the days that his scanner was broken because if it wasn't we would have picked up the dogs Monday morning. During this conversation he threatened to put the dogs down if we didn't pay him everything. After his conversation with Roundy he called the Animal Adoption Center in Salt Lake where we got the dogs. We needed them to fax over vaccination records so my mom could pick them up. On our behalf the Animal Adoption Center called Tooele Vet. Clinic and asked for the chip numbers for the dogs, which they were given...HMMMMM I THOUGHT THE SCANNER WAS BROKEN!!!!
Later that day my mom and sister went to get the dogs. The staff and Roundy were rude to them, raised their voices and refused to give them the dogs unless my husband went in and apologized to him. My mom told him that if the dogs had been scanned this never would have happened. She was told then that the scanner was broken. Did it break again?? These guys can't get their story straight.

Wait there is more. After demanding that he turn over the dogs because we had provided them with payment and all the paperwork they requested we found out that he had given one of our dogs a Rabies shot that did not need it and charged us for it!! Later upon returning home we found that the county tags that we were told we had to purchase through him had expired last December.

Upon researching and calling county officials we were told that due to our location in which we live the only option for our animals if picked up is to go to Joe Roundy's clinic in Tooele. They were familiar with his poor business practices and told us many similar experiences.

Can't believe he is still in business and caring for animals. Go somewhere else!!!

It is so refreshing to see a provider that you can tell truly cares about their appearance. They strive to maintain a professional appearance and look their best at all times. Everyone in my community knows that they are the absolute best in the field. They never left me for an extended period of time and I never felt ignored. They have a lot of compassion for the animals. I had to have my cat euthanized and Gretchen made a bad situation more bearable. She really cares.
