I adopted a 10 month old dog in early January and took him for his first vet visit on March 3. The visit went fine but I made a near-fatal mistake when leaving. This dog is afraid of almost everything and not well trained to walk on leash. After two months he will let me put a harness on him but he’s still afraid of the car. I misjudged his fear and didn’t pick him up. He backed out of his harness and was running free on Rigsby Avenue. I will always be grateful to the Rigsby Vet staff! About half a dozen of them took on the challenge and ran him down, stopping traffic twice trying to keep him safe. I hadn’t pushed training on him because of his fear but we worked on “come” when we got home. Thanks again to the Rigsby Vet office for their support both in and out of the office!

Absolutely, they usually call more times than they say they promised. I was fully informed the whole time.

I took my two week puppy here last Tuesday because she was having constipation issues. She had been to another vet the previous Thursday, and had been diagnosed with aspirating pneumonia. We spoke with that vet about her constipation, And received antibiotics, medicine to keep her blood sugar at the proper level, and Laxatone. The Laxatone did nothing to help, and while we could get her to poop a little, we still ended up having to take her to the emergency vet Sunday because of the constipation. The vets gave her an enema and also gave us 3 doses of laxative. Between the emergency vet and the first vet, we spent $277. Her constipation still had not been fixed. Finally, we took her to Rigsby Veterinary Clinic, and got some real answers. They were the only vet to tell us that it was her food causing the constipation, and told us to start feeding her Science Diet a/d. They gave her another enema, showed us how to mix water into her food to make it easier to eat, and also showed us more ways to stimulate her. They were the first vet we visited who didn't treat me like I was incompetent, and they were also the cheapest. For $90 we got my puppy checked out, tested for worms, 3 60-cc enemas, along with a free can of puppy food and a free dose of deformer since she tested negative. I am so glad my fiancé's aunt told us about this vet, they are by far the best vet I've visited since moving to San Antonio. You receive so much information for far less than other vets charge you. They'll even tell you how to treat certain things at home. The vets here definitely enjoy their job, and you can tell they're in business to help animals first, whereas other vets are all about making extra cash.
