I have been going to this vet for 10 years and I asked her to write the heartworm perscription to 1-800-Pet Meds for my dogs, because I was tired of paying her high prices for something I could get cheaper elsewhere. She said "NO". She did not trust them. When I tried to explain that "Her trust in this company did not matter to me & and as a consumer, wasn't that my choice to trust them and decide where I wanted to buy the medication", she said she did not have to write the perscription and would not based on her personal opinion, saying that they would not pay for my dogs treatment if my dog did get heartworms. Also, the quality was not as good as hers. This is what her Novaris rep had told her, her words not mine. Same Medication. Might I add, she said all of this without checking out "ALL THE FACTS", this company gives a 100% satisfaction gurantee and will pay if that happens. After 3 days of arguing with her, she finally agreed to to match the price. At this point however, I felt with her attitude and everythng I had to do to get that concession, I no longer wanted to give her anymore of my money. Besides, chances are, I would be having this same agument about pricing the next time I had to go buy it., This vet will hold your pets perscriptions "Hostage". If you don't buy the heartworm medication from them and pay the prices they are asking, after paying the high office visit charge, your pet won't get the medicine. I ask you, isn't this still "America" where a person is still allowed to shop for the best price. Even your pets medications. My own doctor doesn't tell me where I have to buy my perscriptions. I don't see how it is "Ethically " right for an animal doctor to that. My next vet will not only be concerned about my pets, but me also as a consumer and my rights as an American. Not their own "OPINION" or interests.
