have been going here for over a decade. have had mostly good care, a few bad experiences with vet techs (that belonged in a different profession) and one bad diagnosis from vet that will permanently affect my dogs life.....but hey, animals cant talk and vet medicine is a lot of guesswork and knowledge. Pobably could have referred me to another vet (specialist) and performed more tests.
Dr has a dry bedside manager.....but if you just take her as she is, she is a nice person, Desk people could use A LOT more people skills...then again, if I had to see people cry from putting their pets to sleep or deal with constant phone calls wanting free vet advice on the phone I might be a bit emotionless too.
one of the ONLY vets in the area that will let accounts in good standing make payments. This has always gven me the peace of mind that when I have an emergency with my dog I CAN bring him to the vet. I have always paid off bill within a month and have been given longer on large bills (such as hospitalization, surgery, etc)
Don't bring your pets in to her, or any other vet, after letting them suffer for weeks/months then expect vet to perform a miracle and make them well. Don't not pay your bill and expect a vet to allow you credit/time to pay.Over a decade and one problem with vet and 2 with techs (both now gone)….not bad for a Dr that treats species that cannot tell her how they feel.

love the staff...very compassionate. Fair on prices and giving you time to pay off a large bill. Have never gotten anything but good service from this vet. THey have taken 2 of my dogs in 2 separate emergency situations when their own vet wouldnt, and other local vets said no. needless to say, DR French IS our vet now, as she seems to be the only one in te area that cares enough to take in a sick animal on a moments notice

On June 28th I called this place asking to speak to the "Vet" Dr. French because my dog has gunky eyes and was suddenly unable to see. Most people I talked to said it was allergies but I wanted a "professional" opinion from the "Vet" I have had my animals with for over a decade. You would think a decade long relationship would deserve a call back in an instance like this right? I mean over that period of time we have spent $1000's of dollars on our animals there so that is the least they could do right??? WRONG!!!!

I was told that she doesn't do that and that we need to make an appointment for my dog to be seen. I said well I really don't want to spend a lot of money to tell me my dog has allergies so if I could just talk to her to ask her couple of questions that would be great. They refused so I was rightfully very upset. I felt betrayed because of the loyalty we have been to this place. So I told the lady I was switching to another vet and that I will need my animals records. Without even a hesitation she said ok and that will be 25 cents a copy. I said start them I will be down immediately. She said no I will wait until you get here. So now you can imagine how po'ed I am considering they did not even try to keep me as a customer. So I get on a website and write a review of my experience and said to avoid this place at all costs. What do I care right, I am getting a new vet?

Well come to find out alot of vets are full and only have openings a certain time of year. Now I am screwed and my dog is clearly not doing well. So I swallowed my pride and brought her to Johnstown Animal Clinic. It was a quick visit and they wanted to keep her for 3-4 days. They said the bill was going to be around $530. I mentioned I did not have that right now now and is there a payment plan. They said yes we can take post dated checks for up to 10 weeks in a row. I paid $100 at that time and agreed to the payment plan. Now this is the first time I have left there without paying the bill in full. Wait till you hear what happen next...

Now mind you the reason I brought her down was because of her eyes and she was not eating. I get a call later the same day and they said she has what is equivalent to humans having an intestinal flu and that the dehydration would cause her eyes to gunk up because they were unable to produce tears. Made sense to me but what do I know. So my wife called the next day (Saturday) and they said she still has not eaten but they would call her back later. My wife is still waiting for that call. I go in Monday morning before I go to work to see my dog and one of the assistants comes in and says to me, now get this, your dog can not see. I said yeah that is why I brought her here on Friday. So she looks through the records and says oh yeah right here it is the very first line. So I go to work and my wife calls them in the meantime. They want to talk to someone at 4pm about my dog and will not tell her anything over the phone. Doesn't sound good right? Well I go there at 4pm and I meet another Vet who I thought was much more knowledgeable and personable than Dr.French. The name slips my mind. She informed me that my dog has Glaucoma and the pressure is severe. Anyways she gives me pills and eye drops and said to come back on Friday. My wife brings her on Friday and my wife says they basically did nothing and told her nothing. Dr. French looked at her eyes and said to come back in a week. Cha Ching!!! $81 fee for little to no info.

So here is where it gets good. I bring my dog in today for the second checkup. Talking with the assistant she mentions that the pressure in my dogs eyes are still severe. So I was thinking to myself why didn't my wife tell me that? Talking with my wife she didn't tell me because they did not do it. In case you are wondering they numb the eyes with drops and check for pressure and my wife insists they did no such thing. So either the vet was lying or there is sever lack of communication on their part and apparently looking back at my story it is not the first time. So I wait in the room for the Dr. French. She comes in and throws this piece of paper at me (it's my bad review online) and says you need to leave and find yourself another place to bring your animals. I asked her if I could explain and that I would retract my complaint if she listened. She said she did not care and if I did not leave she would call the police. Can you believe this?????? I said fine but I would like my animals records and she said sure 25 cents a copy and I said OK. She then says that she has 10 days to give them to me and to come back in 10 days to get them.

Now mind you this is a doctor of animal medicine that refused to care for a distraught dog because of a review on a website. The maturity level of a 13 year old spoiled brat is not the way to communicate with irate customers. Talking and listening is the best way. If she had listened to my complaint and said to me that she will see my dog this visit but would prefer for us to not come back then that is what a mature person does.

Now I have a dog that has Glaucoma with potential rupturing of the eyes and no records of anything to bring to another Vet for 10 days. By then she could very well die.

If this is a "Vet" you want to bring your animals to then you need to rethink your morals. Not only is she all about money but clearly does not care of the well being of the animals in her care. Also she does not properly train her staff obviously by the lack of communication and/or lies that was told to us. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET!!!
